I read this link and I think it says that a phase back to work should be paid to part-time staff.

My mum works 18hrs and medical advisor has certified that her hrs be reduced to 12 on a over 2 days. Will she be paid for the reduced hrs.

It isn'r very clear exactly what you are asking, but if I read it correctly you are asking that on a reduced hours phased RTW would your mum be paid for the full hours, or only for those worked?

She will only be paid for the actual hours worked rather that her contracted 18 hours. The SSP link clarifies this by confirming that SSP is not payable to make up any difference, for the right to SSP is removed if even one hour is worked, although, depending on the nature of any Company Sick Pay scheme, she may be paid CSP for the hours missed and normal wages for the hours worked.

Any advice given is done so on the assumption that recipients will also take professional advice where appropriate.

Thank Sidewinder for clarifying this for my mum. There is a CSP but the company does not pay it to all staff it is discretionary, she has received it before but now they are giving it only to some employees although the staff hand books say it is paid to all employees.

Then that is a separate matter to pursue. If the CH says 'all' employees, then it must be available to 'all' employees subject to whatever qualifying terms exist. IF they operate the scheme at their discretion, then this could open up the subject of discrimination if employees of other sexes, races, religions, ages etc have been paid it and others have not!
