Hi guys,

Just received a letter from 'Graham White Solicitors' saying that I'm about to be taken to court regarding a Central Ticketing fine.

I've contacted Trading Standards and they've told me that GWS have the right to take me to court should they decide to pursue it. Technically I was trespassing on private land and admitted to it so I'm not sure where I stand.

A lot of people have told me to just ignore the letters but as long as I'm getting them I don't feel like I can move on.

Thanks for your help in the past on this matter but once again I'm not sure what to do!

Thanks,

Debbie

They always say they will take you to court. But never do it.

I normally write back stating that I am very much looking forward to the court action in order that this matter can be resolved.

Anybody has the 'right' to take anybody else to court.

If you were trespassing, the landowner or his agent would be entitled to actual damages. On a free car park, zero. If you didn't buy a P&D ticket, maybe a quid.

Would you take anyone to court for a quid??

It's a mail [problem]. And it's not a fine.

Trading Standards are generally clueless. They're not a crack team of intellectuals - it's just some bloke who has an office in your town hall.

Thanks for all your posts. I felt that paying the amount would put my mind to rest and therefore I could enjoy my holiday - we're going away on Tuesday for 3 weeks. we are also changing address. My other thoughts are that if they do summon me to court, however unlikely, I would not know about it and therefore would be in even more trouble!

It would be my luck for me to be the first person Central Ticketing took to court! Haha!

By paying them, you are doing your bit in keeping them in business for longer. Your decision to make, but helping to put them out of business by starving them of cash would be a more socially acceptable contribution.

Would you pay someone if they said you had won the lottery and you needed to pay £80 to get it.

In fact why dont you pay, i am going to take you to court unless you pay me now.

Have a look at this page:

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=2214803, scroll down to where it says central ticketing, and those are the standard letters you will get.

Dont you get it now, its just automated letters that get sent out as part of the [problem].

Thank you for giving me the reality check I need!!!!

I think I just needed people to spell it out to me!

i just had a bit of a laugh to myself! i looked at the link you sent and the 3rd letter from central ticketing is exactly the same as mine!

I suppose I won't even see the 4th letter becasue I won't be at the same address and it probably wouldn't be a good idea to give them my new address! haha!

Thanks for reassuring me everyone!
