Hi, My credit card company has been sending the statements to the wrong address and say they have no information as to where they got the wrong address.

I never gave them the different address.

I got behind and eventually paid when a post card came through asking me to ring a number and it was a debt collector.

The debt collector said I could pay 2000 of the 3000 debt if I did it on the day, which with help I managed to do.

They said that that would be the end of the debt but when I checked my credit score the 1000 was still outstanding. They led me to believe that the debt would be settled.

As the bank had been sending everything to the wrong address and I did not recieve any default notices, where do I stand in getting my credit score repaired?

Can any one help, Thanks.

Sounds like a serious breach of the Data Protection Act so I would seriously look into reporting the said Bank.

Also, what is the name of the Debt Collector?

When was the original debt taken out?

I'm new to this myself but hopefully someone with more knowledge will be browsing soon enough;)

make a complaint to the Information Commissioner about this breach of the Data Protection Act. they ve exposed you to serious risk, and if they cannot account for why, they may do the same to others and that will be a concern for the ICO.

I dont suppose you have anything in writing from the debt collector as it sounds like he mislead you about £2000 satisfying the debt and that is grounds for a complaint also

Hi, I don't have anything from the debt collector. it was all done over the phone. I did get a letter telling me that the lender wouldn't pursue me for the balance but that didn't get it off my credit report which is what I want. I would have been better off just paying it off slowly as I have gained nothing.
