Hi All,

Just discovered this forum - much useful info, so keep it up!

Could someone with Housing benefit expertise please shed light on the following:

1. How long do councils hold on to your details/information after they have closed/disallowed your claim? i.e do councils keep details of previous cliams, if so, for how long?

2. If your claim was closed Will it have a negative effect if you claim again?

3. How long should one wait to make claim again if the council closed/disallowed your previous claim?

Mnay thanks

While I can't answer your first question with any certainty, I would imagine they would keep your details for the industry standard of 6-7 years after the claim was made.

As to your other 2 points, you could make another claim immediately so long as your circumstances have changed and that shouldn't be held against you (unless you previously made a false claim)

If you are asked to deal with any matter via private message, PLEASE report it.

Everything I say is opinion only. If you are unsure on any comment made, you should see a qualified solicitor
