Please help!!

A few months ago my husband started receiving debt letters from a company called EOS Solutions. At first we ignored the letters hoping it would go away, EOS then managed to get their hands on our phone number and would repeatedly call 5-6 times a day. When my husband spoke to them, he confirmed his named but refused to confirm any other details until they told him why the were calling, to which they refused!

After a week or so of calling my husband phones them to sort it out as the phone calls were bordering on harassment! His name was confirmed but there were problems with his address. The address of the debt was in Kent (where my husband lived at least 6 years ago), so he is the person they are looking for and lived at that address but the debt turns out to be for a company called Ceridian (payroll company), who do payroll for co-op and used to do it for woolworths. Problem is he has NEVER worked for any of the companies Ceridian do payroll for!!!:eek:

After explaining all this several times to the account manager, he was told EOS would contact Ceridian to establish exactly what the debt was for. If they could not get an answer within 72 hours the debt would be closed and written off.

Well we never heard anything so assumed all was well. It's been 1 month and EOS have once again contacted via mail that they are chasing for a debt!!:-x

Once again he went through the same situation and was told that since the first phone call Ceridian were chased but never responded so they are again chasing the debt!!:-x EOS didn't close the account as agreed and promise to chase Ceridian and get back to us tuesday. Guess what?, no phone call!

We have sent a letter saying that we do not know of any debt and the need to provided proof (sent saturday) but where do we go from here EOS have not upheld their verbal agreement and I do not believe they will respond!!

Please please help as we are under ernormous pressure as hubby has just lost his job:sad:

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide x

As you have already learnt speaking to these idiots on the phone produces nothing, pay em peanuts you get telephone threat monkeys!

Keep everything in writing, and you now need to make formal complaints to the OFT/TS via Consumer Direct give them a ring, as for the telephone harassment report them to Ofcom and Office of the Telecommunications Ombudsman - Home for breaking the Communications act;

127 Improper use of public electronic communications network

(1) A person is guilty of an offence if he—

(a) sends by means of a public electronic communications network a message or other matter that is grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character; or

(b) causes any such message or matter to be so sent.

(2) A person is guilty of an offence if, for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety to another, he—

(a) sends by means of a public electronic communications network, a message that he knows to be false,

(b) causes such a message to be sent; or

© persistently makes use of a public electronic communications network.

(3) A person guilty of an offence under this section shall be liable, on summary conviction, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months or to a fine not exceeding level 5 on the standard scale, or to both.

Communications Act 2003 (c. 21)

Above all else, your not the ones their looking for, you don't have to do anything, don't provide them with any details whatsoever, just keep a diary of events and maintain the complaints to the above if they foolishly persist if necessary contact your local Police station and report the Harassment;

Protection from Harassment Act 1997 (c. 40)

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!
