Hello everyone,

I own a small commercial shop and my tenants left in July 2009. There was no electricity supplied to the property once the tenant left. However, I received a letter from Haven Power stating that I am responsible for paying the standing charge for the electricity meter at an out of contract rate of £90 per month as I own the shop. Is this true ? I have no contract and never signed anything. They are very eager for me to sign up to a new contract paying 70pence a day standing charge. They said if I sign up they will back date the previous invoices to the lower rate of 70pence a day for the meter charge. Can anyone advise me here please I just feel like I am being taken advantage of.

Thanks in advance,

Propman.

Unless a company is subject to insolvency proceedinngs, provided a valid lease is in place, the lease holder is responsible. If there was no lease, as the LL you are responsible
