hi I dont know if this is the right forum but my problem is with british gas pre payment meter.

I have just moved and I had a pre payment meter at the old address I did have a debt when I went over to the pre payment meter in march 2009 I watched the debt come down and this was paided off by christmas 2009.

now I have moved I have informed british gas as there are pre payment meters in the new house which are with british gas. On the new gas meter there is a debt of £650. I have phoned british gas 3 times and on each occastion they were going to ring me back but so far they have not. when I rang the first time I was told that I owed £189 from my old address and that there had been a problem with the meter and that all the old debt had not been taken. the second time I phoned up I was told that a manager was going to phone me back but did not.The third time I phoned I was on the phone for over an hour and he kept putting me on hold and kept saying that I owed the money from the old address. I asked him to send me a statement showing all the payments that were taken on the old meter and also why it had taken them 6 months to work out that the meter was faulty. I received no answer and got cut off. What do I do now do I write and make a formal complaint and can they prove that the meter was faulty all I have is there word. but I know the old debt was paid as I watched it go down to zero. I hope someone can help Many thanks
