    • The HA might be jointly liable with the other renter, if they have not done anything and allowed the interference to continue.  As BF indicates talk to others affected, and go after t him as a group, and involve the HA as they are also remiss permitting the interference.   Just an aside, wonder if the HA would like people to vacate and end their garage tenacy as they have other ideas for the land.  I know of HA's in wales that wanted top demolish and use the land for building living units as income barely sufficient to maintain the garages.
    • Thank You Bankfodder. What do you mean by the statement I have been offered?   I really eish i could make it a clean break and return the car as I want this to end and I dont really want a car without service history but I feel I am stuck in a hard place. The MOT is due next month and the warnings on the car are becoming more frequent. Either way I'm sure i will end up having to fix it.
    • Being objective, it could be that they accept you've cancelled the DD mandate and you can no longer access the gym.   But that does not rule out them arguing that you cancelled early or without the notice they require.   Let's not second guess though - let us know if they come after you for more, or if they let it rest.
    • I'm asking this as a result of a recent experience as i know some of you are really knowledgeable about disciplinarys. I know it's going to sound a bit cryptic but here goes.   So without giving too much away, if a local authority staff member is caught somewhere they should not be, doing something they should not be doing (usually a criminal record)  & when confronted by a member of the public tells that member of public to F' off, makes derogatory remarks about them, then on camera gives them the middle finger (all backed by witness statement), what sort of hope does that person have of retaining their job?   Clearly gross misconduct, but realistically is this survivable?
    • ROFL Says the person who almost exclusively just posts his unsupported 'opinion', ... which actually seem to come straight from Boris the Liars Puerile book of Populist Jingles (2nd edition) - but that is the populist way isn't it whether Russian troll bot or actual populist on a forum - point the finger of their own failings at others.     Back to reality: People just have to google 'Johnson foreigner lies' to get swamped with examples,   - or just 'Johnson lies' to get his divisive hate and division peddling on everything  racist/foreigner bashing/ misogynistic/the list goes on .. peddling to name but a few.   Heres just a couple of examples from literally thousands across the world: https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/37-lies-gaffes-scandals-make-18558695   https://www.businessinsider.com/boris-johnson-record-sexist-homophobic-and-racist-comments-bumboys-piccaninnies-2019-6?r=US&IR=T   https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/boris-johnson-brexit-middle-east-priti-patel-israel-balfour-robert-fisk-a9030356.html   https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2019/06/24/the-empty-promise-of-boris-johnson   Now your turn to catch up supporting your many 'opinion' posts Mr unsupported populist opinionist. .. .. • Hi,
I was in Sainsbury’s today and did scan and shop.
I arrived in after a busy day at work and immediately got distracted by the clothes.

I put a few things in my trolley and then did a shop.
I paid and was about to get into my car when the security guard stopped me and asked me to come back in.

I did and they took me upstairs.
I was mortified and said I forgot to scan the clothes and a conditioner, 5 items.
I know its unacceptable but I was distracted and Initially hadn’t really planned to use scan and shop.

      No excuse.
I offered to pay for the goods but the manager said it was too late.
He looked at the CCTV and because I didn’t try to scan the items he was phoning the police.

The cost of the items was about £40.
I was crying at this point and told them I was a nurse, just coming from work and I could get struck off.

They rang the police anyway and they came and issued me with a community resolution notice, which goes off my record in a year.
I feel terrible. I have to declare this to my employer and NMC.

They kept me in a room on my own with 4 staff and have banned me from all stores.
The police said if I didn’t do the community order I would go to court and they would refer me to the PPS.

      I’m so stressed,
can u appeal this or should I just accept it?

      Thanks for reading

Has anybody noticed what the Halifax are doing ? They are showing debit card transaction a day later but showing as debited the day before ? For example Balance at

25/06/10 23.58 -79.99

26/06/10 02.10 -79.99

26/06/10 10.00 -101.99 But £21.00 debit shows as 25/06/10

Also when you look at internet banking during the day you get real time banking. Look at it after midnight and you will get the credits in first and then the debits. This in turn kicks off charges. Anybody had this problem or noticed it ?

I noticed in June 2009 and actually did screen shots everyday with timings. Halifax said there was nothing wrong with their online banking. The way they were applying transactions caused me to be charged £35, £35+£28.

There is still a complaint in with the FOS on this issue.

You will need to gather as much evidence as you can then send copies to the Halifax I am sure they won't do anything about it and tell you to go to the FOS.

Do go to the FOS, might help if you say to both the Halifax and FOS that you understand from Internet Forums that this has been drawn to your attention before, etc.

Also copy in the Office of Fair Trading as I also complained to them over this.

I questioned them about this. They said that the account is dealt with on the basis the transactions are made. For example, although money can be paid in and a direct debit come out on the same day, the DD can be presented at say, 2:35am and the payment in may not arrive until 5am and thus you get charged.

There's one bank that allows you (or used to, they may have changed it since) to clear the account by the end of the day and that the charges are only applied if the account is still overdrawn at 5pm or whenever.

Natwest and Llloyds both let you put money in the same day as a d/d comes out, as you say as long as the money is in before close of business that day.

I have now heard from the Ombudsman and they have not upheld my complaint despite sending screen shots, etc. Then I didn't really believe that they would, the only satisfaction I've got out of it is that it has cost the Halifax time and money.

I am going to do this. The only reason the fos do not want to touch it is it will send shockwaves through the banking system.

I have been getting whacked by charges for this recently, basically i was told that Debits come off your account jsut after midnight and credits are paid in around 4 am thus leaving a 4 hour gap that you have no money!,

HOPELESS!

debits come of after 3 am in the morning but show as a debit the following day and you pay for the pleasure of it by paying 2 overdrawn fees.

All lies. They told me the systems changed at 1.01 am. However, as I am not a good sleeper and I was up to the early hours I know exactly when the systems changed and if anyone wants to check it out its 3.00 am. When I was doing screen shots and I was expecting debits and credits I started at midnight and carried on until they changed the system, which takes approximately 30 minutes, and I couldn't believe some of things that happened with my account and which I actually sent to the FOS but they still say there is nothing untoward.

We probably need several people to get together and sue them for it. I am planning on doing this once my parachute account is open.

I have a account with abbey who do the same thing but if a debit shows on the 5th of the month it will show on that day not like the halifax which shows a debit for the 6th onthe 7th and charges you 2 days worth of overdrafts of £5 per day.

Another way is you keep these records and complain to hbos and the ombudsman. If no joy then issue a small claim and see what a judge says ? I do not have enough charges accumalated yet but i would go down this route easily.

had a charge given to me for exceeding my overdraft on 6/10/10. I was online at 23.45 and made a faster payment in to account to stop any exceeding of the overdraft facility, also no payments had gone out on that day making the account clearly in line with my over draft facility. I re logged on 7 minutes after midnight i.e close of business, and once again no payments had gone out of the account only my payment in showing dated the 6/10/10. The next morning 5 transactions all showing the date 6/10/10 had gone out of the account, but because I had made a faster payment the account stayed within the agreed limit. Later in the day I received an email to explain I was to receive a charge for exceeding my o/d facilty. I phone up and explained this can not be correct but I was told that the system they are looking at says I requested a payment in to the account on the 6th, but it only arrived on the 7th causing me to be over my facility. after a slanging match for over an hour with 2 ladies in Rosyth the charge stood. However, I have phoned again today spoke to a chap in Leeds who agreed the charge should be reversed. They are robbers and frauds. The amount time i spent on the phone i lost all ways but i got something back.
