Hi all. Sorry if this is in the wrong place!

My wife has a loan with Provident. The agent who collects her payments at the door every week has had a fall out with a close family member of ours. She has since said to other random people that she is "not going back to her door to collect the money" and is going to ask another agent to collect the payments.

Surely she shouldn`t be discussing the fact that my wife has a loan with her friends? There surely should be confidentiality with this!

My wife is planning on withholding her payments in the meantime.

Any advice?

The agent is in breach of the 'Data Protection Act' and client confidentiality.

Your wife should submit a written complaint to Provident's head office in Bradford - send it by recorded delivery post.

If you do not get a satisfactory reply then complain to the Office of Fair Trading.

I'll second what Joe says but add I wouldn't withhold payments as this could increase the already inflated interest.
