Hi, Have Park Beds gone into liquidation ? Is there any way we could get a refund on a Synergy mattress which is sagging after only 2 years since purchase? We've had to bite the bullet & order from another company as no one seems to answer the phone numbers we have for them on the invoice?

Can anyone help?

thanks

Wouldn't be surprised if they are out of business. Try addresses as on page one, especially the Doune one. Report to trading standards---they will see if business is down the swanney or not and will pursue on your behalf. If in receivership recently, you could maybe put in a claim to the receivers.

Keep us posted on progress.

These recent posts obviously need some concrete clarifications.

I will flag this up for site team to see if we can get an accurate picture of the current status.

It is no good making assumptions or possibilities,we need to establish facts and be reporting them for anyone coming here for help.

Please bear with us to see what those facts might be.

Ah thanks.

Do we know when they were dissolved exactly ?

Also any deviants of Park Beds branding ?

I seem to recall that there are other names which have been mentioned elsewhere on the site in the last few months.

I bought one of their beds in April 2010 and also have problems with a large sagging area on one side. Initially I also had problems with waking up sweating. The bed did not meet their claims in their ads.

I phoned a new number for Park Carpets whose name appeared on my invoice and was told by the man that Park Beds had gone under in April last year and that he had had a concession in their Renfrew Street store. I wondered with both company names containing the word Park that they were related and had directors on both boards? Can anyone shed any light?

Having spent over £500 on the mattress I'm not impressed with having to replace it so soon.

Fleming House is where the Legal Services Agency is/was based. They used to deal with some issues for us when I worked for the CAB. The building is multi storey offices on the Art School side of Rendrew St and I cannot remember there being a shop on the ground floor. The entrance was really on the first floor, and there were wheelchair access ramps doubling back to take you to the first floor at both sides of the entrance.

I don't know if this is advertising or against CAG policy - but I have bought well into double figures of beds from ?Allans/Alans? Furniture Warehouse just south of the river. The prices and quality were good, and the beds were for my family and for rental properties. I normally get carpets there too.

However, just as I did well and continue to use them - does not necessarily mean everyone else will have equal fortune.

Hi Guys, after weeks of silence, i got a phone call from park beds today. The bloke has told me that if i trail all the way to glasgow, they will exchange this mattress for one of my choice. When i said i would go to their dundee store he replied that it was closed?!?!

Glasgow is a 120+ mile round trip from here, what should i do?

Did they deliver the mattress to you? And how long ago?

If the mattress is faulty, and they had it delivered to you, then it is up to them to do the exchange.

Is it a Myers Synergy mattress, or an Englander Synergy mattress?

Also what does it say on the label?

Neither. It states Park Beds and Shenergy, plus Vasco and Tencel are mentioned on the label.

Sorry, I misread it.

It seems that Park Beds had an ASA ruling against them: http://www.asa.org.uk/ASA-action/Adjudications/2009/10/Park-Wholesale-Beds-Ltd/TF_ADJ_47057.aspx

Now I know that this ruling is against Park Wholesale Beds, rather than Park Beds. But when you consider that they both share part of the same name, and they both sell the same product that nobody else sells, then I think we have to conclude that they are linked.

It seems that the Shenergy bed was made especially for Park Beds, or that they were the sole importer

This is very interesting: http://company-director-check.co.uk/director/900473866

I have just added an article about this, to my mattress advice website: http://www.mattressadvice.co.uk/trading%20standards.html

Hi. I am new to this, but came across the site when I tried to access the website of Park Beds as printed on the label of my Shenergy mattress. I bought the mattress a year and a half ago and don't believe it has lived up to the 10-year guarantee. My plan was to contact them to complain and seek a replacement/refund. Having read some of the posts here, it would seem there is no point as the company no longer exists. Is this correct?

It does appear that they no longer exist. However it appears that the directors still have other business interests, which I don't know if they were part of the same company or not. I'm sure there will be someone else in these forums who knows more about the legal side of this.

It appears that your mattress was marketed as their own brand. However thy would usually be made by another company for them. So you may have some comeback from the manufacturer.

I presume you have read post 46?

If you don't manage to get it replaced, then there are a couple of tips to help your replacement mattress last longer:

  • First of all don't get a foam only mattress. This is because the bottom layer is reflex foam, which is made up of loads of bubbles. These bubble start to break down over time, leaving a dip or soft spot in the mattress. Instead you would be better with a mattress that has springs with memory foam. The choice between open coil springs and pocket springs would depend on your budget. But don't get caught in the trap of buying a mattress that contains the much smaller and less supportive, reflex foam encapsulated pocket springs. Instead make sure it has full size steel springs.
  • Turn your mattress on a regular basis. A two sided mattress is best, especially if it contains pocket springs. If it is non turn (which will never last as long), then make sure you do rotate it head to toe.
  • Avoid big brand names, and big retailers, as their prices tend to be high, and quality low.

I wouldn't have thought so after so long. But it is worth a try.
