Hello

I parked at Moto ferrybridge on 28 march and phoned to pay the charge on my credit card - I have a phone bill with a 3min 45sec call to the number.

I received a parking charge notice for £50. I checked my account and no money has been taken.

Any advice please? Should I contact with evidence of the call?

Thanks so much.

Hello S T. I use service areas to park quite often. All of the ppc's that patrol these car and lorry parks have no legal authority. I know drivers who dont pay in these places but the problem is that some of them have now started to clamp vehicles, so that is a different problem.

I never use my phone to pay when I park on them and I never pay the ppc attendant, I usually go in the shop to pay.

But as electron99 says dont reply to anything they send you except true court papers, which in all probability will never appear.

Thanks for your advice, I fell nervous about not responding at all, especially when I feel I did attempt to pay. Is there any chance or baliffs or representatives calling at my house?

I do really appreciate you taking the time to read and reply

If you didn't pay, in theory you owe them £1 or two.

Wait for them to ask for that amount.

Luckily they never will because they're hoping you'll pay £50!

It's a [problem].

Bailiffs, no (you would have to be taken to court, lose and still not pay. No chance).

Debt collectors = powerless and just send letters. No money in wasting petrol and knocking on doors hoping people are in.

CP Plus are very well known and easy to ignore.

Time after time I am truly amazed at how people really buy in to the PPC [problem]. That is no criticism of you Tabby, I was once the same.

Take the advice of Al27 and you wont go wrong at all. If they do take the money from your credit card, have the card company perform a charge back.

There are two authorities you should only be worried about with parking and that is the Police and the Local Authority and anyone acting on their behalf. Everyone else can be ignored.

Best regards
