OK so I will just run through my problem.

I tried to transfer money into my gfs bank account, but accidentally clicked on my mothers account by mistake. I know this was extremely stupid. I phoned up the bank but there is a bigger problem. Because my mother's account was overdrawn, the overdraft has basically 'swallowed up' my payment (their words). They say I am pretty much f****d, are they correct? Is there nothing I can do?

The money was for my rent and am really scared that im going to be evicted :(

Unfortunately I don't think you've got any chance at all of getting it back.

I have a similar situation and the bank can just keep whatever payments are made into an account (unless it can be proved to have been a fraudulent transfer which this isn't).

I can only sympathise because it's an awful position to be in. Try not to panic - easier said than done. :-|

Has it at least helped your mother out?

As for your rent and your own dilemma, how far behind with rent are you, and how good a rapport do you have with your landlord?

Do you have any friends at all who could help you out a bit?

Can you get advice from the CAB who may be able to mediate on your behalf with the landlord?
