Silly Silly I know but had a payday loan.....paid it off as agreed......a wk later took out another to repair damage to car which was subsequently unlawfully repo'd but thats another story......then hubby lost his job so we deferred at the end of feb paying some off hoping that he would at least have a job by the end of march so we could change date or defer again and pay off after that.....no job has materialised so we rang them saying the payment expected on 31st March wasnt going to be available to be told until it doesnt go through there is nothing they can do wait until it doesnt get paid and then explain when they contact.....we did.....they now want £18 a week as their absolute minimum this is not possible in any shape or form our income is £100 a wk child tax credit and £100.95 a wk income based jsa and we have 3 young children and other bills that need paying. They were quite put out on the phone when hubby offered £5 a wk as that is all we can afford until he gets a job and said well we will just keep trying to take the payment and then it will get passed to collections you will have to try and make an arrangement with them. The balance outstanding on 31st March was £300 and I dont know if any fees have been added as yet.

Any suggestions on the best way to go about getting an affordable payment arrangement?

Hi

Firstly don't worry too much as little they can do. make sure your card is reported lost or stolen in order that they can't help themselves to your funds.

make them an offer in writing conditional on all interest being frozen. They will no doubt be akward but hold firm. You only need pay them what you can comfortably afford and if that is a £1 per mont so be it.

They can pass it to collectors but the same rules apply. make sure any payments are direct in to their account or by standing order/bank counter.

Good luck

Get your benefits paid into another bank account, I know it is hassle but they will try to take the money whichever way they can. Even though you have 'lost' your card they still have your bank details, ie sort code and account no, that is enough for them (and your bank) to get payments through which they are not authorised to take.

Will do thank you :) I honestly cant remember if I had to give the bank details or just the card we have applied for another account anyway just waiting for paperwork :)

Hi

Sillygirl is quite right, only a new account can give you a guarantee your funds are safe. Cancelled debits cards do on occasions still allow these companies to take payment. I think the hassle of a setting up a new account/switching salary etc puts most off. Well worth the time though:wink:

Most of these companies will take your bank details at the application stage. A new account will save you having to check every single day that they have not set up a direct debit.

Thanks with any luck they will hurry up with the papers may consider a new bank as it may be quicker...

had paperwork today for new bank account signatures sent off so that should be sorted soon, also had a call from payday uk asking what we could afford to pay as the £5 a wk we offered wasnt enough....they are willing to freeze the account where it is so no charges or anything if we pay £15 a fornight if we cant do that much then it will be chased and charges added so im going to request confirmation in writing that the account is frozen before we pay a penny and I will be paying via bank transfer not by card or d/d

Paying in details are:

Barclays Bank

Account name: Month end money Ltd

Account number:70610534

Sort Code: 20-77-67
