Hi, I'm seeking advice on behalf of my dad regarding global debt recovery.

At the beginning of this month my dad received a letter from this dca stating that he owed £55.84 to Readers Digest. He ignored this letter as he had no knowledge of any such debt being owed to Readers Digest but he then received a follow up letter saying they had, had authority from their client to proceed with litigation.

He then told me about this problem and i then gave him the letter from this sites debt collection library to send them saying he had no knowledge of the debt they are demanding.

Then on saturday he received another letter from Global Debt Recovery saying he now owes £90.31:eek: with a breakdown of the outstanding balance on the account which includes a list of four books he's never even heard of and the £5.88 admin fee.

I would really appreciate any help and suggestions as what to do next

Cheers, jet

Was the "no knowledge" letter sent recorded delivery? If not, do it again.

If they keep chasing, report them to Trading Standards. Obviously, don't ring them and if they ring your dad, make sure he refuses to answer any security questions.

Any further letters turn up, just ignore. It's not his debt and there is nothing they can do to enforce it. If they tried to go through the courts, they will get shot down very quickly

If you are asked to deal with any matter via private message, PLEASE report it.

Everything I say is opinion only. If you are unsure on any comment made, you should see a qualified solicitor
