Hi All,

I really need some advise....Owe £1500 on a Natwest credit card around year 2000. I defaulted and didn't pay. This was eventually passed onto a debt collection agency and I agreed a plan and payed them until my direct debits stopped and I never heard from them for years! All of a sudden, I recieved a letter saying I owe £2000!! I really don't know what to do, could someone please advise me on what to do? Shall I write to them, call them etc?

Thanks all in advance.

noooooooo! don't call them. first thing to do is send a s78 CCA request- that can buy you time. To find out more info about the account, ie last payment, send a s7 DPA 1998 request. just make sure you don't actually acknowledge any debt!! and don't sign anything either!!!

personally i would not respond in any way whatsoever just yet

if you paid by direct debit then write to your bank and request either your statements for the last 6 years or alternatively ask them to look through and inform you of the date and amount of the last payment made on that direct debit

if it is more than 6 years then you need not bother with the other stuff

just ring them up and tell them to F**k off
