Took advantage of their free trial and trying to cancel before the end of my 30 days, but when i try and do it online its useless.

Searched on the net and loads seem to have the same problem.

Did try an 0800 number but its not recognised.

Any ideas (apart from dont take the free trial again :))

Ok keep us posted.

You are not alone on this one-A google search shows it appears to be a very common scenario.

Maybe a complaint to the regs is in order with this.

Called equifax on their 0800 number to be told that the department i was through to were unable to help me and gave an 0845 number. Phoned that to be put on hold. After 5 minutes i gave up. Not willing to hold on for ages and get charged for it.

Managed to get an email address so i sent off an email to that and sent a letter first thing today to cancel. Next day special delivery £4.95

Also went to my bank see if they could put a stop on my account if they tried to take money out, only to be told that i couldnt because i gave them my card details and no diirect debit was set up.

I'll post details incase its of any use to anyone else:

[email protected] or contact the following Telephone Number on 0800 917 3035 or [email protected]

Just hope they cancel it that way

So can you confirm that this 0845 number they gave does not appear on their website ?

I feel your pain, have just come off the phone to Equifax and I am fuming!!

Applied for the 28 free trial on 27th Jan online, that seemed to work fine. HAd queries on the report, disputed online and that seemed to work fine. But when it came to using their online cancellation process. Surprise, surprise it didn't!!

I was going on holiday and the trial would have been jup whilst I was away so put my faith in using their online system rather than trawling aaround for the phone number then waiting on hold for an eternity and have come home to discpover they have charged me.

Just spent half an hr on hold (I got some numbers off 'saynoto0870') to be told they have no record of me cancelling and now I have to write to cutomer relations to 'try' and get a refund. It is ridiculous. Won't be going near that company again!

Hope you all have more luck with them, obviously is best to call to cancel for peace of mind at least!

Just read this.

Having experienced the same with other companies who do not accept cancellations and where a card has been used the easiest answer is to report your card as lost, you will be issued with a new one with a new number so no further charges can be taken from the old card.

After reading all the posts I was ready for a war with equifax but it took me only 2 minutes to cancel.

Called 866-547-2622.

Said that I want to cancel and was asked "Why I opened the account?" Told them that I wanted to take a look at my credit history and score and now don't need it anymore. They said not a problem, account is now closed. Done! 2 minutes.

yes, same problem, my o/h signed up for free trial on website of equifax, and then before the free trial ran out i wrote a letter and cancelled it well within the time limit given by them, and it was sent by recorded delivery, and signed for after i checked with the post office automated number, but it was not cancelled, and two months payments were taken out, and after just finding out my o/h rang the bank and they could not stop as not a direct debit, and also this had made him overdrawn, and he has A 25 pound charge because of them, after ringing equifax they told him they have now cancelled and he would get refunded within 5 days two months, and i had an e mail from them confirming this, the bank then o/h rang again, and they said the charge at first was equifax's fault and would have to claim this also from them, then the bank rang o/h and said they would on this occasion as it was not his fault, deduct the charge, he is waiting now for the confirmation that the two months monies has been returned, and that is later this week, so we shall see, the e mail said

from equifax they had cancelled his free trial, and not that they had refunded the two months, it seems many have the same problems with all this, so something cannot be right with it and hope someone can look into further for everyone, hope this helps.

  • 5 years later...

I rang 0800 0142955

I first pressed options2 to cancel and I got automated message and cut off.

I then redialled selecting option 4 as wanting to discuss an open dispute then option 1selecting that this was online.

This put me straight to adviser who took details said they had cancelled my subscription, I also asked for my cancellation reference..so hopefully this works..hope this helps. G.B
