I like Starbucks coffee, so shoot me!

With pleasure. But first up against the wall will be the humourless Starbuck execs, who responded to the parody I posted above by immediately calling their lawyers and wading in against the cartoonist with the classic "Stomp and Desist" behaviour of many transnational corporations.

It doesn't seem to have occured to Starbucks - who seem woefully ignorant of the fundamental principles of parody - that Kieron Dwyer's cartoon was enormously popular because the majority of people have strong distaste for the corporate philosophy and behaviour of companies like Starbucks.

The upshot of this story is that Starbucks have forced Mr Dwyer to remove the logo from his own website under threat of further litigation, though, ironically (predictably?), the parody-logo has now become even more popular as a result of SB's behaviour; the very reverse of the situation they were so desperately trying to avoid.
