Wisdom teeth sore gums, any solutions?

I've been having problems with my wisdon teeth for years and years and then some more years. Every now and again I get a flare up where the gum gets really inflamed and very sore. I have tried ibuprofen, using corsodyl mouthwash (for the infection) and even clove oil to no avail :(. My dentist can't give antibiotics until it's at the point where it's preventing sleep. It isn't there yet this time but it's heading that way and I don't want antibiotics I just want some relief from the pain and stinging. It doesn't help that I have a hypermobile jaw joint so when this gets bad I naturally hold my jaw different to relieve pain and it sets that off. If anyone has managed to find something that really does help angry inflammed gums I'd really appreciate their advice!

Tried that, it didn't do anything (bonjela, not geting my bits out lol)

Crushed ice worked for my daughter in law - she put it in a little bit of gauze and packed it over the gum. Alternatively rub the gum with gin or whisky

Now we know why babies get so cranky when teething:eek: Had my out years ago when they started to impact through the roof of my mouth -not nice:eek:

I am lucky, apparantly not born with any, explains a lot though no wisdom in me yet xxxx

Try a mouth wash of sea salt and warm water...be generous with the sea salt...maybe a tbsp of salt and just enough warm water to dissolve it. Swill around your mouth for as long as you can...no its not so nice, but it may help. Also after cleaning your teeth use a salt solution (1tsp salt to a small glass of water) dip your toothbrush in and give your teeth and gums second clean.

Salt is a natural antiseptic and is good for any cuts, grazes, and dental problems.

I spent years at the mercy of dental abcesses taking every antibiotic and mouthwash my dentist could think of, I guess I paid for his holidays for years with my frequent visits. Then a homeopath (yes I know) suggested I was wasting money and to just try salt.

For me it worked, so it may be worth a try for you Mungypup.

Thanks everyone! I will give the salt a wirl. Have tried clove oil, but that doesn't seem to be doing as well as it once did.

 

Lol @ Dodgy Geezer . With my jaw not being great to start with they didn't want to take them out and risk doing more damage. Am now starting to wish they had. When having them removed it's better they do it when you are younger apparently, as you get older the risks of problems increases and it's supposed to get more painfull too . So I'm slightly put off the idea of them pulling them out. Am hoping to see an orthadontist at some point who is also a jaw specialist as the overcrowding is making my teeth go crooked and my bite is now really really off (ask OH lol).

I had my wisdom teeth out as they were growing up under the jaw bone constant pain.

 

Your orthadontist my recomed some of the teeth out so speak to him then about the wisdom ones.

best mouthwash is a teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide in warm water yeh the pensioners hair bleach My dentist told me and it cured my gum infection

For gum boils etc Bicarbonate of Soda works brill
