Hello

I'm sorry if this subject has been tackled on here a trillion times, but i'm having issues with the lovely Cabot.

A good few years ago they wrote to me informing of an outstanding debt for a store card. I sent the SAR and heard nothing from them - nothing infact for possible 3 or 4 years.

However, recently they have started once again to send letters to me in relation to this account. I began printing my credit reports in April 2008, and none of them have details of this account on them.

The letters from Cabot are becoming quite threatening and nasty now.

I've since moved house, and as far as i'm aware the new owner doesn't have a forwarding address.

Can anyone advise what to do please? I don't want to contact Cabot and tell them that there's nothing on my credit report because I don't trust them to leave it at that!

Thanks very much

Hi,

Four choices here.

1. "prove it " letter

2. CCA request

3. Statute Barred letter

4. Ignore the Muppets

Sounds as if it maybe coming up to its SB date and Crapbot are just having one last try, keep checking your credit files and file under ignore unless anything happens. Keep all correspondence from Crapbot including envelopes just in case.

I would agree with 247.

Just a idea but have you got acess to pre 2008 Credit reports, these can be in the archives of the companys website. I ask as you could then work out when it dropped off you file as to asses when the 6 years was up then wait a further amount of time to establish the full 6 years after the fall off your report.

Please remember the only stupid question is the one you dont ask so dont worry about asking the stupid questions.
