Fare Dodging Question

Im due in court for a fare dodging offence totalling £15.60

 

Ive pleaded guilty and chose not to appear in court

 

I have quite a colourful criminal record from when i was younger, Ive actually been to prison twice for short spells

 

Although none of these offences relate to fare dodging

 

Will these go against me in a court of law and could i be jailed?

 

Ive written a letter admitting guilt and apologising to the train company and court

 

Any help would be appreciated, As im panicking just a wee bit!!

If the TOC did not send you notice of the intention to cite previous convictions when they served the Summons and their evidential statement then they will not be referred to by the TOC prosecutor.

 

I very much doubt that they will be aware of any previous offences if they are not rail fare evasion matters so that shouldn't concern you too much.

I should write to them offering to pay the fare and any cost's they have incurred (as OC has posted on many occasions) and see how you go from there.
