Hi,

this is my first post on the website. Last week I just brought a '99 Ford cougar from a used second hand car dealer as sold as seen with little service history. The car is on 72k and the cambelt should have been changed at 60k.

The first time I took it on the motorway, having carried done about 30miles the engine cuts out and Grenflag tell me the cambelts failed.

What would be my best course of action in this case? Any response would be much appreciated!

Cheers

TJ

Make sure it is firmly in your brain - there is no such thing as 'sold as seen' and don't let them try to convice you otherwise. To insist on that is to deny you your rights under the consumer rights and is unlawful.

You have to decide if you want it repaired, replaced or a refund and then inform the seller. He must show that the fault wasn't there when you purchased it.
