Hi guys, been reading through this site for a few days and decided to give it a go. Went to Halifax and requested all my statements up to March 2005 (I have from then on). Lady asked why I wanted them, said I was having problems with ex-girlfriend and had to prove that I was solely paying the mortgage. Anyway, paid the £5 and she said they'd be sent out tonight, so should get them early next week.

Wish me luck :)

hi guys, got my statements through today (two sets of each) and totalled up to £3,276. Gonna send a preliminary letter off tomorrow, why do I get the feeling that I'm going to be the one that goes all the way to court?

Anyway, wish me luck

Brad I cant think of an easier way to get hold of a couple of grand legally by sending a couple of letters and filling in half a dozen forms.......especially when theres someone there to give you a lift if you get stuck !!

;)

Of course no-one is saying it cant get tedious.......and at times a little frustrating.

Hi Brad

I too feel like knowing my luck i will be the first to end up on court!!

Good luck mate!

No ones gonna end up in court.............At least theres no signs of that happening :)

They have had a couple of months to do an escape act but even Houdini could not help them with this one.

The bottom line is if they did defend a case and it was ruled against them.....then the whole country would be on the case knowing that it was a foregone conclusion..............The banks know that and so do we.

  • 2 weeks later...

hi guys, sorry to be a nuisance and ask a question that's undoubtedly been covered lots of times before, but I sent my LBA off Wednesday and yesterday I had a letter from Halifax offering a feeble amount.

As I've already sent them the LBA off, do I now need to send them a letter accepting it as partial offer?

Cheers for your help (in advance)

  • 2 weeks later...

hi guys me again....can start court proceedings this friday (but got to leave it until next week until I get paid), but I received another offer today of £1,250 in "full & final settlement". Is it worth my while sending another rejection letter or will I be better off holding and issuing court proceedings?

Thanks again

Hey Brad,

As far as I'm aware from reading around, the advice is if the 14 days is up for LBA then you dont need to send another rejection letter before starting your claim.

Yeh...Am all set to do my claim today- however I'm a little concerned over recent happenings with the courts moving towards pushing a possible test case.

The thought of mine being the ONE- terrfies me!! And knowing my luck...

Also, I'm borrowing the money to file my claim and dont wanna be stuck in limbo while the courts await possible test case, so unsure whtehr to proceed or wait at the moment.

I know everyone feels the same and are in the same situation but I really wouldnt have the time to attend xtra meetings if it was transferred to the other court.

Feeling a little dis-illusioned today :(
