Hotel - charged for rooms that I didn't stay in

Bit of a pickle and I'm wondering whether I have any leg to stand on here...

 

I began to fill out a booking form for 2 rooms at a hotel on the hotels website.

I accidentally submitted the form before fully filling it in.

I received no confirmation of the booking.

I called the hotel to ask if the rooms I was after were available, I was told they weren't.

 

At this point I assumed I would not be charged as they didn't have the rooms available.

However they have charged me for both rooms, under their T&C's it states failure to cancel the room 48hours prior to the booking or to show up will be subject to full charge.

 

Unfortunately, I agreed to the T&C's... but the form was not fully complete.

 

I have asked the hotel for a refund, obviously they've said no.

 

Any other suggestions on how I could recover my money?

It might be worth asking your card company if they will do a "charge back" against the hotel.

I've just called the bank. The bank can only do "charge backs" on pending payments. As the payment has now left my account they can't help me.
