Okay this regards my wife...

Back in 2003/2004 when she was over 60 she got one of those nice letters from HSBC. 'Just sign here and a card is yours', which I suggested she sign and send off. A week later a nice Gold Card arrived with a £7K credit limit on it!

We move forfoard to August 2008 when they hiked the rate from 15.9 to 20.9 ad I wrote a letter ohn her behalf. They reduced it back to 15.9% but would not backdate ir. This year in August they increased it to 20.9% again and I wrote a letter but they replied with nothing more than what was said in their original letter.

Move to yesterday when she gets a letter hiking it to 24.9% - alarming! There is no reason for this and my last conversation on her behalf was that she 'did not have enough products' - load of tosh! Shall we say there's also not much cash left but no payments have been late or missed or not paid.

Comments/suggestions welcome! :) My idea is to do a S.A.R. and move from there. I feel that closing the coount would 'satisfy' what they want to, but will not admit it, close the account.
