I have received a CIVIL PARKING CHARGE NOTICE , Lidl on 02.12.09 from Athend Ltd. After reading all the posts on here and other sites I am going to ignore it and see if they go away like suggested. I will keep you posted over the next few months.

Also if anyone has any advice or experience with these tickets please post so myself and other can get reassurance.

Thanks

Matt

It's not a fine. It's an unenforcible [problem] invoice.

Don't reply to any letters.

Don't phone them.

Don't email them.

Don't contact them in any way.

Just ignore them.

You'll get a few letters, followed by letters from a "DCA", (the next desk).

If you're REALLY lucky, you'll get letters from a "solicitor", (These are sent by the teaboy or the office cleaner).

Just....

Ignore.

IGNORE.

IGNORE !

If that doesn't work then just ignore them, some more.

Eventually, they'll go away and start bothering an easier target.

Received my final reminder today for £90.

Hope your right with your ignore ignore system as it says failure to pay may result in transfering your case to a debt collection company.

Will keep you posted

Of course you are right to believe the "ignore" advice. Don't forget that debt collectors are just private citizens, they are not bailiffs.

and a debt collection company can do what exactly about a "debt" that has only been dreamed up by some PPC?

The debt collectors and solicitors letters are just alternative disguises for the ppc to try to scare you into paying

Ignore works well (from personal experience)

Only if you want to waste time, effort and postage and spur them on to send you more threatening letters. Ignoring everything is the way to deal with it

Received my final reminder today for £90.

Well it won't be your final reminder.

You will get at least one if not two more "Final Letters" - or should I say begging letters.

Don't forget your dealing with a Company who business plan is to issue as many Invoices as they can, desssed up to appear as something they are not. These are then to be followed (if you don't pay) by several letters in an attempt to scare the unaware into paying.

Hope your right with your ignore ignore system as it says failure to pay may result in transfering your case to a debt collection company.

Will keep you posted

What is there to hope about ? Do you think you would really be advised to ignore if that wasn't the case.

Of course it says failure to pay may result...blah bla bla - it makes people like yourself worry into thinking they have to pay.

If you owed me some money for some work I'd done for you at your request and at an agreed price I wouldn't say..."I might take legal action if you don't pay".....

[some rubbish snipped]

Nope - wasting your time and effort although the boys and girls at Royal Mail would no doubt be grateful for the extra business.

Not a debt collection company:eek::eek::eek:

Are they the people with absolutely no powers whatsoever, who can do nothing but send out letters some even in scary red ink?

Notice of collection proceedings is the latest one to arrive.

I quote

Debt is being transfered to a debt collection company to pursue if full setlement is not made in 7 days

After this time the debt will rise to £115 as specified by signs around the car park

It is possible that any action taken in the civil courts could result in a CCJ against you to recoer the monies. This will affect your credit rating.

Enforcement action following a CCJ against you may result in the following

Bailiffs warrent of execution,

Attachment on earnings,

Third party debt order,

My wife keeps saying just pay it but im standing firm on this one and taking all your advise

Will keep you posted

Thanks all :)

Does your wife understand how CCJs and the courts work?

99% of people are worried because their only knowledge of these things are cheesy "we'll give you a loan even if you have CCJs" credit adverts on daytime TV.

Bear in mind that the dreaded debt collection agency is the same person who sent the other letters, except that he parts his hair on the opposite side.

If you are very lucky, you might even get letters from a "solicitor". Those are sent out by the office cleaner or the tea-boy, depending on whose turn it is that week.

Eventually they'll forget about you and chase an easier target.

Ignore, Ignore,Ignore!

If ignoring them makes you feel uncomfortable, then send all the correspondence to us.... and we'll ignore them, for you. :D

Tell your wife that if you end up in court and lose, I personally promise I will pay the bill providing you follow the advice on here. MY MONEY IS SAFE. My last ticket, I sent just one forceful letter and heard no more, that was back in October. Had three others and none paid and only required the same letter to bring them to a halt

Just add my experience for extra re-assurance

Parked on a Sunday in May.

Athena letter "Charge Certificate" with photos letter arrived 4 days later

Athena "Final Reminder" two weeks later

Athena "Notice of Collection proceedings" about 2 weeks later

Then 4 letters over a month from "LRC Legal Recoveries and Collections"

Then nothing:)

What had me in stitches was the last letter. They offered an "exceptional one off discount" of 40% if I agreed to pay...(i.e. £36 instead of £60) :D

So follow all the helpful advice. Just ignore and collect the letters to have something to entertain you on those cold winter evenings.
