hi im new to this, just wondering if anyone could help!

I stupidly purchased a beko fridge freezer from bright house a year ago, I have both the osc and dlc.

It has now broke and somebody is due to come out to fix it tomorrow, but all my food in my fridge and my freezer has gone bad and has had to be thrown away (it broke sunday). I have been told by brighthouse i am not entitled to any vouchers or cash to buy more food, i can if i have receipts have money taken off my fridge freezer, is this right? Dont know what im going to do as im a single parent and ive been stocking up for Christmas!

I bought a new Fridge Freezer from Buy As You View several years ago and it broke down 2 months later ruining all the food i had bought. They told me i was not entitled to Compensation so i wrote to them demading compensation for the £60 worth of food i had in there.

 

They offered me a paltry £45 so i wrote back telling them that i only wanted Compensation for the food and not all the other out of pocket expenses i had incurred due to the breakdown including telephone calls to an 0800 number off my mobile phone, waiting in for the engineer and fresh food to eat every day.

 

Try writing to the manager and head office to see if you get any joy.

hi just got off the phone to head office (thought it might be quicker to sort out if i rang) the regional manager is going to ring me to discuss it further in the next 48 hours, in the mean time been advised to look for receipts.

The problem is i dont have any! i didnt expect my fridge freezer to break when its less than a year old! do you think i will still get my compensation with a list of items?

I would certainly give it a go. I never provided any receipts and i got money back.

 

You dont expect a Fridge Freezer to break down when it is less than a year old especially at this time of year.

 

Mine was only a few months old when it broke down so you can imagine i hit the roof. The boyfriend was at my house when the engineer turned up and told him to make it quick before i got back cos i was fuming.

had no phone call!! surprise surprise!

I have been into brighthouse for the regional managers phone number, they obviously didnt give me that! they wanted to ring instead and supposedly he has till the 28th to deal with my complaint!!!!

what good is this to me after christmas, I have worked out I have lost £64 of food (alot of it xmas food). :mad:

iv now rang head office again! they told me the regional manager has to get back to me before the 28th they then sent him an e-mail telling him to ring me today. But guess what......... still no phone call!!!

I have been told by head office my complaint has been accepted, do you think that means i have been accepted for compensation?

Hi 123,

 

Although phoning them brings the matter to there attention, unless you record the calls, they can always claim not to have received them.

 

I would put everything into writing ASAP, just so you have a proper paper trail.

just thought the matter would be sorted out quicker as alot of the food was for xmas.
