Have you ever used your overdraft (If you have gone over your overdraft limit or you did not have an overdraft and used it anyway[unauthorised overaft]) on this Current Account? If you have used this and were even 1 day late in paying it back (usually 1 month from the day you used it) then it would be marked as a Late Payment as you have borrowed money and not paid it back on time.

when you use an unauthorised overdraft, the bank implies that you are applying for credit without asking you. If they agree and pay out, then they give you 1 month to get back into your authorised overdraft limit or in credit if you did not have an overdraft in the first place.

If you have been in credit at all times, then it would be a banking error. Give them the month and year of these late payment markers and ask them what they represent. If they cannot, ask them to remove the late payment markers.

Good Luck!

Yes sadly they are allowed to do this.

Its not credit its reporting payment history.

Its not just financial institutions who do it,its many others from Telecoms providers to utilities.

The data protection act allows it if you have given permission,of course its in the small print.

Quite often when challenged they will say they are required to do it -thats another story ha ha.
