In the post at work today was a nice letter from this company addressed to The Occupier stating they had tried to deliver to this address and to contact Sharon Graham on 01702 7852 173 (NO address for mail replies) so that alternate delivery arrangements can be made

This bit got me smiling though . .

"(Please note that this letter is addressed to the Occupier for your own personal confidentiality and security ensuring that the delivery is made to the correct address)"

The whole thing reads like a typical phishing letter and if so it just goes to show how desperate companies are getting now as I'm the Security Manager for a small office block with 6 tenanted floors and approx 800 staff members :-D

Letter has been binned accordingly so lets see what happens when they don't get a reply

ps The post mark is Potters Bar

sure it's not 01707 852 173?

......which I think is advanced collections

and yes they are 'debt tracers' - which I believe means 'pin the debt on the phone book' merchants

Ermm thanks HB

Just had a rumage through my bin and yes you're right  (I'm now going to find out which erant digit added the extra number to my typing of the original)

So it is a DCA looking for the Occupier, wonder who's not paid what then

The next letter will be interesting

Thanks HB ;)

Just a guess? The phone number is for that company, they specialise in collection and tracing, on their blurb they mention a "collection cycle" of letters and phone calls. I reckon the letter the OP received is bait, he contacts them, they sweet talk his name and address out of him if he's the person they're looking for then they have confirmation of his current where abouts and can then continue collecting or can report back they have traced him.

Those be the ones posty and that be their MO. Not quite the free prize draw ring this number and leave your name and address and we'll send you a prize from Northampton, but its on the same lines.

This is the sophisticated hi tech debtor tracing they talk about!

put it in a jiffy bag envelope along with a heavy object such as a piece of metal or brick and stick it in the post addressed to then without any stamps

at least you;ll have the satisfaction of knowing they paid 8-10 quid to get their own phising letter back!
