I have just been to sign on and been told i have to attend a back to work interview next thursday at 1pm.......

Thats fine i have no problem with it........But i was going to my daughters in london at the weekend and had planned to stay until the following weekend.......Just a week .

She has just got married and moved away with her soldier husband they have 2 year old and she is finding it very hard to adjust..(first time she been away from home) In all fairness i miss them too dreadfully........Her new husband is away on excercise for the week and the perfect time for me to keep her company...

I didnt tell the jobcentre i was going on a visit because i thought they would deem that i was not available for work if im not at home and stop my money.........??

I am so looking forward to this little visit as is she, and my grand daughter and i will be in bits if i have to cancel... Do i tell the truth and say im going away for the week or do i just ring up on the day before and say i have flu ,vomiting bug, anything that would deem me unfit to attend........ I am happy to go the following tuesday in fact i would welcome any help to get me a suitable job! just not next week ..............What do i do... thank you

Tell them that you are going away but that you can still look for jobs on the Internet and in the job pages of the newpaper when you come back.

You are entitled to holiday in the UK without it affecting your benefit. Tell them you are have planned to visit your daughter for a holiday and you would like the interview to be deferred to a later date. They will give you a form to complete.

My advice is based on my opinion, my experience and my education. I do not profess to be an expert in any given field. If requested, I will provide a link where possible to relevant legislation or guidance, so that advice provided can be confirmed and I do encourage others to follow those links for their own peace of mind. Sometimes my advice is not what people necesserily want to hear, but I will advise on facts as I know them - although it may not be what a person wants to hear it helps to know where you stand. Advice on the internet should never be a substitute for advice from your own legal professional with full knowledge of your individual case.

Please do not seek, offer or produce advice on a consumer issue via private message; it is against

forum rules to advise via private message, therefore pm's requesting private advice will not receive a response.
