People who know me on Cag will know of my considerable and intense dislike for the practices of the Debt Collection Industry. I have worked within the credit industry myself and that part of the industry brings a bad taste for reasons we all know about on here. It's despicable.

I have been helping a long standing friend of mine I have known almost like family since the 70's to get out of some sticky situations he found himself in as a result of losing his business - Bob, is my friend, my best friend.

Debt has been in his family for a number of years whilst he struggled keeping his business alive, but banks like AIB stung him for 10's of thousands in charges a few years back in his business bringing it to its knees. Every day, working in a small business he struggled. More recently his business suffered again with the downturn, different bankers, but he fell behind with loans and credit cards and I have been trying to help him through it, his car was repossessed and sold unlawfully for a few hundred pounds in arrears...we all know the story on here I don't need to get graphic.

The credit card companies have been lethal. They set their dogs on him the way we know how, with in-house solicitors, Debt Collection Agencies the names of which are frequent on here - phone calls coming like bullets before 8.30 in the morning, harassment letters went out on my advice and each were CCA'd and those who didn't told they were in breach of CCA requests...OFT guidelines - it all fell on deaf ears and they phoned and phoned and phoned taking absolutely no notice of him.

The stress was immense, people coming at him and his wife from all angles - it has been horrendous and none of them listened.

Last week I phoned a DCA and the bank they worked for and told them Bobs wife was unwell and asked for them to back off phoning. We faxed details of what was going on and stressing the fact Bobs wife was now seriously ill - they still phoned...and phoned and phoned.

This morning at 5.am Bobs wife, my dearest dearest friend and the most wonderful grandmother to some 7 or 8 grandchildren, wife of 30+ years died from a stress related stroke.

Those who know what the Cabot Fan Club did to Cabot will know that these banks, these dca's and a number of others will remember what they have done to this wonderful woman for a long, long time to come. My journey for them has only just begun. God forgive me.

May she rest in eternal peace.

Andrew

Thanks Patrick, you've been a bit of a stalwart yourself! I enjoy helping people and I have operated honestly, honourably and respectfully throughout my working life, even though things go wrong and we do some things others don't like...but institutionalised vandalism is not something I subscribe to. I can't begin to tell you how I feel just now...I'll respect Bobs family today and say nowt just yet. Good luck with your own and thanks for your kind words.

My condolences Andrew

Another sad and disgusting account of just what can happen when DCA's etc do not listen or care

This will add more conviction and resolve to fellow Cagger's I'm sure

Thank you LTWFB

Please be assured - It wasn't Cabot - woe betide them if it had have been...

There were a number of DCA's which I will not name - the site needs to be protected from anything directly attributed to one or more particular companies, these things happen as a result of a build up of pressure, this cannot be pinned on anyone agency and I wouldn't do that...they may have just been the straw that broke the camels back..we will never know, but the ones which continued despite my warnings will know.

I am not vindictive, we fight them with the law, we will win.
