I would imagine that 90% of CAB offices don't have a debt adviser TBH, therefore your experiences may be indicative of the experiences of many others too.

A layperson should NOT be giving any debt advice to anyone, although you should have been offered a copy of a magazine called 'Dealing with your debts' which is actually produced for them by 'The Money Advice Trust' (who also run National Debtline). You can download a copy here:

National Debtline England & Wales | Debt Advice

you trying to get me started on national debtline as well. I REFUSE to rise to your bait.

In the spirit of Monty Python: ' he's not the sequenci he's a very naughty boy'

Seriously though I see your point IMHO going to ANYONE - CAB, national debtline, CAG, moneysavingexpert and a host of others - is preferable to suicidal thoughts, alcoholism and domestic violence. Personally though I cannot heap any praise on anyone that would advocate lining the pockets of the likes of .... well lets not get too libelous but I' sure you can fill in the gaps

Of course these 'unllawful activities you speak of are unsubstantiated and your own personal opinion and not that held by Consumeractiongroup?

Quite right debs, it's my opinion that they are facts. Anyone who reads my thread about Credit Solutions ltd and Mr William Hugh Pierce's culpability is welcome to their own opinion.

I am expressing my own opinion

I only EVER give MY opinion about what something mean, what someone said or what I would do. I never tell anyone what to do, say or write and I never express an opinion that could be construed as being that of any other individual, group or institution.

The CSA and the Debt Buyers and Sellers Group (DBSG) didn't mention that they regularly lie and cheat people in debt and make them pay sums which are not owed, and sell on debts in dispute to each others in house collectors and so on and so on.

People who live in glass houses should not throw stones!

Darn Guardian newspaper. I registered and have been waiting for the confirmation e mail which never arrived. After about 2 hours waiting I found out I can just simply post :evil:

If that FredWhispers wants to know the truth I have posted him a link which the info cannot be disputed in how the debt collection industry is "rotten to the core". Hope he gets the message.

If I have helped you or made you laugh by some witty remark and brightened your day................ the scales to click are over to your left hand side. :D:D

Same as the whocallsme entries in a thread I had some weeks back - the credit industry puts in one lone voice, and every other post is absolutely negative output against the company in question.

You'd have thought by now that the industry would have cottoned on to how little support it gets from the general public. And so desperate does it wish to justify its entire worthless existence.

Every public announcement that the CSA makes backfires on itself, thereby alienating it and the industry it represents further from general consensus.

So, if they're reading, then please keep at it.

But Marc Gander, a co-founder of the CAG, said it was "a real shame" debt collection firms felt they had to set up a mechanism to combat sites such as his.

MARC WHY DONT YOU STAND AS AN MP ;)

possibly because he's got better things to do than sit in London and listen to a lot of hot air.

and there is a mechanism to combat CAG - its called doing your job properly and not scaring / intimidating people with a load of illegal drivel.

who is breaking the law? CAG or the people that send out illegal letters for unenforceable debts?

If they didnt send stupid letters like 'send us 600 quid or will come round and take your house off you' then CAG would only have about 12 members and would not be an issue.

They have created their own nemesis by their arrogance.

I love being their 'nemisis', reminds me of when I was a kid and we used to play being The Champions...

If this so called industry looks at the industrial products of this country they will find that they all have a limited 'shelf life'. Debt collection as we know it will soon be assigned to the history books along with the Poor Laws (although I think a couple of those are still in existence) and the Workhouse....

How about a workhouse for DCA employees to acclimatise them to the 'real' world.

And you can put the adverts to help your 'Credit Health' in there as well. Why have 'credit health' when you don't need credit as much as They would have you believe.

Off soapbox now and off to an Xmas lunch in Morrisons with some friends....

The CAG site team have done more for the financial industry than any MP I know.

Exactly... it's the pefect riposte. If the industry wasn't so corrupt then there would be no need for sites like this. Does it not all sound a little bitter?

Good points HB.

DCA phone monkeys operate in the modern version of the "Workhouse", - the call center. - The DCA call center is the lowest of the low.

Typically, they are poorly qualified, poorly educated and low skilled with very little to contribute to society in any positive way what so ever. They do what is the only option for them in life. You could almost feel sorry for them.

Then again, maybe not.

I dunno... Traffic Wardens, Bailiffs, Shopping Centre Security Guards, Supermarket "Supervisors", anyone with a title "Team Leader" and clamping firms are in the mix too ;-)
