Wait until they write to you. If they can't put it in writing, it's not worth hearing - unless you have the means for recording calls. If you do choose to correspond with them by phone, then the ONLY time you should do it is if you can record the call.

Thanks for the advice, I have no intention of answering their phone call. They did write to me, on a few occasions, but I ignored the letters.

Maybe I should have written back......what do you think?

G

They sent me a letter on 22nd April 2010, 6th may 2010 and 17th May 2010.

Dear G,

According to our records, you have chosen to ignore previous correspondence, therefore we are left with little choice but to recommend our client proceeds with FURTHER ACTION.

This will result in further costs being added and your account with ebay remaining frozen.

To prevent this, we strongly urge you to contact us as soon as possible to discuss re-payment.

Freezing of ebay account? Oh no - disaster! Easy enough to sign up for a new account if you absolutely need to have an account.

And if you're inclined to pay ebay their fees, then pay ebay - ignore Newman and their 'administration fee'.

You could send Newman the 'prove it' letter (it's in the Templates Library) and see what happens from there. Don't send the CCA letter, as Ebay's not covered by the CCA.

You'll note their threats are all 'mays' and 'coulds'.

You see, I was a victim of an ebay [problem] and lost over £800 but incurred £340 worth of ebay fees. Ebay froze my account, and so did paypal.

They did not want to hear that I was a victim, I did try to appeal too...but they said no.

So, I refuse to pay the fees.

That first letter - it says they've added an administration fee, right?

That's grounds for filing a complaint with the OFT and Consumer Direct. DCAs are not entitled to add their own charges.

Ignore them, Ebay and Paypal (one and the same company I may add) are on dodgy ground when it comes to protecting sellers and buyers against the [problematic] who they do nothing to stop. I fell victim to a [problem] selling a mobile phone. Even though I provided ebay and paypal with proof of sending and delivery, they still refunded the [EDIT]. Then went after me. So not only did I lose a phone, but paypal claimed I owed them £200 and ebay for the auction fees. I told both of them to take me to court if they thought they had a case. Almost 3 years later and I haven't heard a peep out of either of them.

That's similar to my plight.

I purchased goods from a drop-shipping site in China at Christmas time last year. The goods never arrived, I quickly realised that I had been stung. I paid everyone back, but ebay and paypal decided to charge me fees for and I was left to sort things out on my own.

Ebay and paypal, didn't want to know me and treated me like a criminal.

It sickens me....and now i'm being pestered by a DCA.

I have always wondered about that. If you as the seller sends the buyers the goods, but the buyer claims they did not receive them, who is liable. If you just have proof of sending, then that would not be enough and the seller would liable I guess ? . You would have to send by recorded delivery and charge the buyer the relevant postage amount for this. If you then have proof of delivery, then there can be no come back, unless the goods were not as sold.

This has always put me off selling on Ebay. I have heard too many stories of people being ripped off.

We could do with some help from you.

I use EBay from time to time, but it isn't something I make a habit of doing.

I notice that DCAs are using email as a means of contact more frequently now. Does anyone know of a site similar to whocallsme that deals with company email addresses as opposed to phone numbers?

I'm gonna sound quite nerdy but there is little point for 100's of reasons, email address are either very easy to trace and I do mean very, very easy or they complete annouymous and untraceable such as [problematic]@yahoo.com or [email protected] or DCA@xyz(really abc).com

please don't click the links they are there for effect:cool:

this was from my mse post where I am Ms-Pacman. Also the sites mentioned fighting debt is mine.

I've now got over 3000 numbers but an eye op delayed progress but I'm back on it now.

I post the lists of numbers on mse, here and my website purely to get the numbers comng on google results (which are at the top for most) to help people find sites like this to get help.

I stopped colour coding the cheaper rate numbers as so many say DO NOT CALL A DCA, but the logic is that people panicking will, so I keeep it on my website instead.

Any more numbers or suggestions always greatfully taken
