I've just received my post about 4 hours earlier than usual. It was a different postman, have they already got the Christmas casuals working?

I'm in Cheshire, probably come under Greater Manchester.

Your postman had a day off? Whatever next!

It came at 8.30 today! 6 hours earlier than usual.

From the News last night I think it might be the Postmen who haven't gone on strike, or the managers are delivering.

My poor postman is probably on strike so not getting any wages.

I think the postmen, i.e. delivery staff, are only on strike tomorrow - the other days are staff in processing etc.

It was on the news about the secret backup plan RM had put into action-warehouses turned into sorting centres from South right up the country.

Theres also the temp staff they have taken on.Its been called the shadow operation.

I think theres a sorting centre being used in Doncaster which will service the North.

Thanks Martin.

its all very confusing, we're told they're on strike yet everything seems the same or better (to my address anyway). All seems very devious, not surprised posties are furious.

Yes.Many of the DCAs use other service providers anyway-I had one from TV licensing and one from CABOT when my neigbours had no mail delivered on strike day.

I said if its upsetting you you are welcome to these.....it soon shut them up.

thanks for that link martin

ill open some eyebrows

during the 2007 dispute, royal mail used casual workers from various agencies, will its common knowledge, most of them were bent, nicking every thing in sight,

at the oxford mail centre they were nicking all the orange mobile phones and sending them to the African Continent.

little did they know that the phones were knacker-ed and being returned back to the orange ware house

after they were exposed, royal mail stated that they would no longer be using casual labour.

royal mails excuse was they dont do a cro check on casuals, its up to the employment agency.

roll on Christmas

employment agency again.

but this time it was a polish agency with an interpreter.

i had no complaints as they were polite and got stuck in even with the language barrier.

now it seems manpower are taking these people on with no, or before a cro check comes back and royal mail are turning a blind eye

the public dont get to see this side of the business

i wonder why

Yes spot on.

How the Gov can stand back and say they are not getting involved is a joke-they are all for getting involved when it comes to them wanting it sold off.

No doubt TNT will be rubbing their hands.

Royal mail is probably the last of our institutions.

We have seen our Water,Gas,Telecoms,Banks Nuclear industry and Railways all go into foreign hands-our very infastructure.

You dont see this with other countries-they would not dream of it.

I read a report not long ago that Gazprom was looking at taking over Scottish Power.

SP have 5 million customers in the UK.

I wouldnt mind betting that the GOV would give them aid and grants to do it.

If you went to Putin and said....ok we want to take over TNK or buy a stake in Gazprom he would choke on his Russian Standard laughing.

Polish workers had started their exodus back to Krakow as our building industry slumped....but they can always rely on work when there are industrial disputes here....its become a foregone conclusion.

Isn't Scottish Power already owned by the Spanish giant Iberdrolla? The Finance Director - Ramon Fernandez doesn't sound terribly Scottish.

The postmen and women are doing a grand job while striking one day per week, which has now stopped in the hope a new deal can be made, getting ur post early just shows the committemnt shown by ur postman, and should be deemed that he or she is doing there job to the bset of there capabilities, the back log wasnt has huge as the papers or rm made out hence is getting cleared very fast indeed, and any xmas post will not be affected. getting ur post earlier than normal can only be a good thing yes, if the post arrives late people moan if its early people moan. the amount of times people pester the postman in the street have u my giro or have you this when there 20 streets anyway from there address, beggers belief, let them get on with there deliveries and all the post will arrive in good time, even early if the postman manages to sort the mail and leave to start there round in good time. as for postman etc crossing the picket lines this was all a miff, and no ft or pt postmen crossed such a line not at our sorting office anyhow, nor in any within the same area, we work hard to deliver a service and should be rewarded for that, its easy for people to point the finger, and snigger about the recent strikes, there was a point to them and things needed addressing, which in hindsight will make rm a better place to work hopefully. so b4 you judge ur postman please bear in mind, there striked and lost pay, to make there place of employment a better place to be and work, no working man or woman wouldnt do the same if the shoe was on the other foot. dont judge but support.
