My husband took out a payday loan with these people at the end of last month when we were having some big financial issues!!!!

After discovering this wonderful website we now know what a stupid thing it was to do ! Our problem is this, we changed bank accounts but DH forgot to inform work of this and his pay due on Thursday will be put into the old account, so the DD to PTP will not go through and we will incur a bank charge now as well as charges for them even though we can pay them back on the day.

They have been very unhelpful in regard to helping us resolve this issue and as I have learnt from this site, do not want to speak over the phone and keep everything in writing.

We cannot afford any extra charges so any help would be appreciated

Hi

If you cancel the direct debit you won't be charged by your bank.

They will soon be on the phone when you default and will happily take your money. Just refuse to pay their charge (seem to recall its about £59). Ask them for their bank details so you can pay it on the day in to their account. If you give them your new details the chances are they will take what they want.

Before they pass to Clarity they normally offer you a large discount to settle (Clarity do the same) so you should be able to avoid paying that charge.

Good Luck

I have contacted them and told them the payment will not be in that account so the DD will fail, they said I would probably end up with a £59 charge and to pay it asap.

I know it sounds really bad but having difficulties with money this month so if they insist on charging me anyway am going to pay half this month and the remainer next, at least I will be able to feed my kids and keep a roof over my head! I have changed my mobile number DH doesnt have one so let the telephone calls begin, dont mind too much if its a male calling as I quite like the Irish accent LOL:D

Well the calls have begun, I have also put in writing that we will be making half the amount due in October and the rest in November. As they only have my details, they are unable to contact my husband which is good as he would come to an arrangement that suits them just to get them off his back.

I have had such a rubbish start to the day that if they want to harrass me let them, they are the least of my problems LOL!!!! I am going to stay strong and keep to my guns thanks for the support guys :D

Bump!!! The phone calls are getting stupid now, I would like to write to them and deal only in writing but does anyone have an address. They rang this morning - will not speak to me as my husband took out the loan and as I was at work he in no uncertain terms told the chap at the other end of the phone where to go.

Not language that I could ever repeat on here I might also add. This is going to cause rows between us and as it happens we are still waiting for my husbands wages to go into the right account so we literally have no money to give them anyway!!!!

I emailed PTP with our repayment proposals and had a reply stating that we must contact them via telephone........... I dont think so!!!

My response was this

Thank you for you e-mail. Please once again note that I will only be communicating with yourselves via written correspondence. This is my legal right and also due to the threatening manner in which your staff take towards your customers that I have already experienced. I will not be a party to such discussion.

Please direct any communication towards myself in writing.

I am not entirely sure if this is my legal right but put it in anyway!!!! Have I responded in the right way???

As soon as they phone remind them the call is being recorded and threatening calls will be taken to the police station and reported to them. Also get in touch with your phone company and ask them to block their calls if possible.

I had a guy from Canada who really was a twerp, thought he was the Virginmedia bloke at the time to sort out the tele problem but he launched into his "I hate people like you who borrow money they can't pay back.... " spiel and at then end he said "What do you have to say about that?" I said "How much do you get paid to work for a company which encourages 'people like me you hate so much to get further into debt' which set him of on another 10 minute spiel... I just left the phone off the hook after that.

Now my house phone doesn't ring in the house, I can do outgoing calls and I get peace in the evenings.

Well so far so good, I did receive the same email to get me to call them twice but repeated my previous reply to them. No calls today as yet:) and no emails from them either. Maybe our little Irish friend is poorly and will be back to call me tomorrow, bless him, dont think he expected to be called the explicit names my husband called him!!!!

  • 2 weeks later...

Ohhh i'm having big problems with these at the moment - i cancelled my DD and they called me and the started calling me at work. This whole business is really, really stressing me out! I have sent them a letter and email requesting that they do not call me again and to deal with me in writing or i will report them.

Fingers crossed.......

I have now started to receive emails from them stating that I have had no contact. Quite simply I forwarded the emails we have sent there were 4 of them and told him that this constitutes contact!!!! He then sent quite an aggressive email stating that as my husband swore at him down the phone and that a 3rd party will come any way they wish including door to door! I replied that we would not be party to abusive and aggressive and threatening tactics and was glad the call was recorded as he called me a liar on the call and this is slanderous by law!!! We shall wait and see what comes next.

What ever it is I am not bothered by them send in the DMC as it seems they are much more pleasant to deal with.

Oh and on Friday last week he Gavin Armstrong actually told my 9 year old daughter when he called that "Daddy will be in trouble if he doesnt phone him back" just remembered that. Will use in next email!

The lovely Mr Armstrong has today emailed saying that we must explain the reasons for wanting a payment plan, is this correct?? Do we have to by law explain the ins and outs of why we are in financial difficulty?

I have asked him for bank details to make payments to but he will not give those out until we explain in full. Can someone please help

I too have had an email from Mr S Clarke asking why i haven't made payment in full.......as agreed!

SLGSUE, i'm not sure if it's the "law" but i think it is common practice when requesting lower payments to explain briefly why you cannot pay the amount in full x

We have briefly explained our reasons but he and I quote says "I won't be

giving out any bank details until you clearly state why you can't pay in full

and secondly what you would offer as a payment"

I have already given him a detailed list of our proposed payments  can the man not read????

I have replied to his email like this

Gavin,

Firstly, the reasons behind being unable to pay in full are basically that we have a large mortgage with arrears and to keep our house we have to pay a lot extra to clear them. I hope that this is clear enough for you.

Secondly if you refer to my earlier email, I have provided you with a comprehensive payment schedule if you care to look at that.

These people are bullies :-x i do not know how they are getting away with it!

I would just state "i have given you details in previous correspondance, but just in case you missed it the reason is XXXXXXXX. Not providing me with your bank details simply means that you will not be recieving a payment! I look forward to recieving them shortly"

I am now on a count down to my account being passed to Clarity! I'm only a week in but believe me i am so stressed out by it all!

Good Luck :)

I know the feeling. This has been going on since the 15th October. I think he is a stubborn man who just wants to upset people. I do quite enjoy sending him my emailed replies as I get a chance to think about what I am saying!!!!

Just want the whole sorry mess to be over. I will NEVER NEVER NEVER again take out a payday loan it just isn't worth it!!!

Try not to stress too much Looby Lou there is (I hope) going to be a lovely light at the end of this blimmin dark tunnel x :)
