    • By the way, have we checked that you did declare that it was a laptop and that you declared the correct value? Did you apply for the judgement yet?
    • You won't get any compensation for the the screeching.    you will have to find out what the reasonable cost of fitting a turbo would be and then that will probably be the value of your claim. Does that take care of all your losses?
    • Credit card was used maybe in 2014 last. then i was only repaying min. payments till 2016 but this was killing me and I had to stop. On credit reports shows both credit card and overdraft as HSBC accounts.    So if account is defaulted in 2016 would it disappear from credit file after 6 years or will stay there until is paid off?    I really thank you for your time.  E.
    • They did supply a new turbo yes. Im happy to just get the fitting money back. Although I had to deal with high pitched screaming for weeks I'm sure that could do with some recompense!!
    • Can you remind me. Did the garage supply you with a new turbo for your £2,000? If it did, then you will need to consider what the normal value would be of a new turbo and that at least would have to be deducted from the amount you are claiming. It seems to me that if it was fitted incorrectly then you would be able to claim back all of the money which was paid in respect the fitting but not in respect of a new turbo if they supplied that

    • I came across this discussion recently and just wanted to give my experience of A Shade Greener that may help others regarding their boiler finance agreement.

We had a 10yr  finance contract for a boiler fitted July 2015.

After a summer of discontent with ASG I discovered that if you have paid HALF the agreement or more you can legally return the boiler to them at no cost to yourself. I've just returned mine the feeling is liberating.

It all started mid summer during lockdown when they refused to service our boiler because we didn't have a loft ladder or flooring installed despite the fact AS installed the boiler. and had previosuly serviced it without issue for 4yrs. After consulting with an independent installer I was informed that if this was the case then ASG had breached building regulations,  this was duly reported to Gas Safe to investigate and even then ASG refused to accept blame and repeatedly said it was my problem. Anyway Gas Safe found them in breach of building regs and a compromise was reached.

A month later and ASG attended to service our boiler but in the process left the boiler unusuable as it kept losing pressure not to mention they had damaged the filling loop in the process which they said was my responsibilty not theres and would charge me to repair, so generous of them! Soon after reporting the fault I got a letter stating it was time we arranged a powerflush on our heating system which they make you do after 5 years even though there's nothing in the contract that states this. Coincidence?

After a few heated exchanges with ASG (pardon the pun) I decided to pull the plug and cancel our agreement.

The boiler was removed and replaced by a reputable installer,  and the old boiler was returned to ASG thus ending our contract with them. What's mad is I saved in excess of £1000 in the long run and got a new boiler with a brand new 12yr warranty.

You only have to look at TrustPilot to get an idea of what this company is like.

    • Dazza a few months ago I discovered a good friend of mine who had ten debts with cards and catalogues which he was slavishly paying off at detriment to his own family quality of life, and I mean hardship, not just absence of second holidays or flat screen TV's.

I wrote to all his creditors asking for supporting documents and not one could provide any material that would allow them to enforce the debt.

As a result he stopped paying and they have been unable to do anything, one even admitted it was unenforceable.

If circumstances have got to the point where you are finding it unmanageable you must ask yourself why you feel the need to pay.  I guarantee you that these companies have built bad debt into their business model and no one over there is losing any sleep over your debt to them!  They will see you as a victim and cash cow and they will be reluctant to discuss final offers, only ways to keep you paying with threats of court action or seizing your assets if you have any.

They are not your friends and you owe them no loyalty or moral duty, that must remain only for yourself and your family.

If it was me I would send them all a CCA request.   I would bet that not one will provide the correct response and you can quite legally stop paying them until such time as they do provide a response.   Even when they do you should check back here as they mostly send dodgy photo copies or generic rubbish that has no connection with your supposed debt.

The money you are paying them should, as far as you are able, be put to a savings account for yourself and as a means of paying of one of these fleecers should they ever manage to get to to the point of a successful court judgement.  After six years they will not be able to start court action and that money will then become yours.

They will of course pursue you for the funds and pass your file around various departments of their business and out to third parties.

Your response is that you should treat it as a hobby.  I have numerous files of correspondence each faithfully organised showing the various letters from different DCA;s , solicitors etc with a mix of threats, inducements and offers.   It is like my stamp collection and I show it to anyone who is interested!

I recently realised I had a few old mobiles around the house so did a quick internet search to find which phone recycling companies would give me the top price. Selloldphone.co.uk offered £168.00 which was quite easily the most competitive and so I took the offer. I sent the phones a couple of weeks later and received a cheque for £100.00. Presuming an admin error I phoned them up and they claimed one of the phones was in fact broken which it certainly wasn't when I sent it and that the other had reduced by £40.00 in market value!

I then requested if this was the case they return the phones to be told it would cost me £15.00 and they couldn't guarantee I would receive the same phone back.

Obviously I'm very disappointed by my experience with this company and the main aim of this post is to warn others off. If anyone can offer me advice however as to where I stand with this and can give me a solution as to how I can get the £168.00 as originally offered I'd be more than happy to pay them£10.00 or make a donation to a charity,

Gareth

It was offered it after I completed their online form, I received an invoice confirming the amount but was required to return it with the phones I sent back.

I always use this website they are very helpful throughout the order by keeping me up to date and found they paid a lot faster than any other buyer, up to date i have sold around 50 phones in various conditions and have never had any problems i just place an order, send the phones of then get my payment straight into my bank around 2 days later.

If you want a first class service use sell that mobile i have not heard anything negative and i was actually recommended from a friend who owns the local phone repair center also uses them regularly.

I have googled greener tomorrow and i personally wouldnt use them.

I've had the same experience with this company.

I was offered £88 on their website for two blackberries. One was in pristine condition.

Four weeks later I received a cheque for £58 and told that one of the BB (pristine) was damaged. This is absolutely not true. I was also told £5 would be deducted off each phone for missing chargers - which I had not been asked for.

All data has been removed from my account even after log in.

The telephone doesn't work.

There is no reply to emails.

I'm not bothered about £30. Being ripped off does though, big time.

Someone stop this guy!!

If 'Turkishmicky' from post 4 is not an employee or owner of these websites then I'm a monkeys uncle.

Signing up just to make a comment like that, bit obvious.

I think thats another reason to avoid the site if they have to leave false reviews to get people in.

Ash.

Hello; just to re-iterate the sentiment about selloldphones AKA Greener Tomrrow LTD.

I send them a perfectly working phone with a brand new screen with no scratches and they offered me £72 online. I sent the phone via Special delivery, and received an email informing they had received the phone a day later and would process payment and i would receive a cheque within 7-10 days.

Unfortunately, i received nothing after 2 weeks. I emailed them and recieved the standard response that they would call me asap.

I emailed them a further 5 times with my tracker number asking again for a call to let me know what going on. They did not respond.

I eventually received a cheque over a month later for £50 informing me the screen and keypad were damaged so they were not able to send the full amount.

I have never sold an old phone i tend to pass them on to younger family members, but this time thought i would try one of these companies out. I doubt i will ever use any online company again.

I did try and call but never got through. These guys are cowboys, and i sincerely hope they get ripped off as much as they have been ripping people off.
