Hi ppl,

Just called the FSO (financial services ombudsman) and made a complaint with regards to Halifax taking charges while on state benefit and how their policy caused the charges.

Basically, they pay money OUT of accounts BEFORE they allow money IN.... thus causing charges. e.g. at 0001 they would try to pay (A) £34.99p ... they would bounce this payment... then at 0002 they would allow the money to be paid in. Then charge me £35 for not allowing the payment !

This to me is clearly a profit making decision on the banks behalf. At no time did Halifax say to me this was how it worked until I complained and demanded an explanation.

They now have 8 weeks to respond or the FSO will decide for them 001_smile.gif

Had a phone call today from the "customer relations" department .... who strangely enough took me through security even though, "my details were removed" when they removed my telephone banking ! strange that

He asked how long I had been in hardship, I said for a while... 6 months ish.

His reply was, ok I was just wondering if it was the recent charges or going on for longer.

He ended by saying he will look into it and write to me.

Welcome to Halifax, we have noticed simliar issues recently in that now all transactions seem to come out at 0001 but money going in comes later. Basically they are doing every thing under the sun to get money including now collecting DD the day before payment is due.

In essence ensure you have all the monies neeed in your account by 5pm that day to cover anything that may come out, every a penny over they haved charge us £58.00 for 0.01 for 1 minute. What is the Interest on that !!
