Hi, a little advice would be greatly appreciated,

I work for a large company within the retial sector and I am employed upon a part time basis. At current, our manager claims that he can change any of our rotad shifts aslong as we have 48 hours notice of this. Is this correct?

My other issue is that of the time we are released form the premesis. We are always rotad to finish at 8pm but most often we do not get permission to leave until at least an hour later if not more. This extra time is paid work. What is the exact law on this does anyone know?

Many Thanks

It makes sense that an employer would wish to have the ability to change shifts at short notice to ensure cover for sickness, holidays or leavers.

I'd check your contract of employment for language relating to flexibility of working hours.

If they are paying you to stay on for an hour or so after your shift I don't understand why it is a problem.
