I long ago (late last year) received a pcn from A S Securi-t for parking on a car park of a disused warehouse. Following advice from this forum, i first sent a letter, and then ignored any subsequent correspondence.

I heard nothing for probably 6 months, then today i received the following.

Debt Registration

Northampton County Court

In the absence of any payment in regard to the outstanding debt relating to the parking notice V6029160, i write to inform you that the charge of £174.00 is now due.

If your payment is received no later than 7th Sep 2009 no further etc. If your payment remains unpaid after the due date i will register the debt plus all costs incurred in the recovery with the Northampton County Court.

Should a judgement in court be made against you, it may lead to detrimental information being registered against your name and address with UK credit ref services.

Can anyone advise me on this latest development? Are these empty threats to be ignored or is there a response i should make or pay up??

many thanks

The only correspondence you need to reply to is an actual court claim

.....and that will carry an official court seal.

I thought A S Securi T was closed down some months ago.

If this has been useful to you, please click on the scales at bottom left of post. Thanks.

Not all court forms have court stamps. but they will have a case number that can be checked with the court. does yours ? it does sound like a fake. might be good to see a copy - suitably washed of identifying details !! AS Securi-t still listed. their latest return is overdue by a small amount.

Ah, so the sytem of debt recovery has changed then? No longer do you have to issue a claim which the defendant can then defend. No Judge has to make a decission. You just simply 'register' the debt and that is that, well they have certainly simplified the procedure.

Just ignore and under no circumstances should you even consider paying this [problem].

many thanks

Fraud. Report them to police (Fraud Act 2006 S.2) do it writing to at least the level of Inspector. make sure it says you are making a formal complaint of Fraud. It is also a breach of the criminal parts 2008 Consumer regulations so also make a formal complaint to TS. Copy the Police and TS complaints to each body 'so they may work together in the interests of efficiency and swift justice'.
