[Why? Because people clog the appointments with self-limiting viral illnesses / coughs and colds / upset tummy for 24 hours because it's an 'emergency'/QUOTE]

I don't think some people are aware that you can go to the chemist to ask for advice. I've done this before. There's a notice up in the doctors waiting room saying that no amount of antibiotics will cure your cold and you can get stuff from your local chemist. I did that thinking I just had a blocked nose. Realising it was doing nothing and it was probably more, decided I probably needed to see someone about it.

A relative once took her child to A&E because they couldn't get the answer she wanted from the GP. She then whinged because of how long they were waiting! Well, I'm sorry; but considering there were probably people there who were in car accidents, broken bones, etc. It's kinda difficult to have sympathy.

Spot on, it's the reason we've countless posters encouraging people to 'Choose Well', that the NHS website is littered with advice on how to treat the undoubtedly unpleasant things like coughs/colds/upset stomachs without having to wait to see a GP. I've been loaded with a cold for 6 weeks now, still don't need to see a doctor...

(incidentally, for those who might be wondering; our GP's won't treat anything other than emergencies in staff - it's inappropriate unless in a rural area there are no alternative practices nearby. So, we wait just as long to see our own GP's...)

Working in a practice is it's own occupational hazard, we get a dose of every cough and cold going 'round and are fastidious about cleaning around patients with D&V. That's not the real issue though, we're often strong enough to fend these things off, but the person sat next to you in the waiting room may well be on Chemotherapy and can't. That unpleasant snotty nose might just prove fatal for them, we always try to segregate our most vulnerable patients from the normal waiting areas - they've even used my office before.

Seeing a poster claim illness and losing their licence, then complaining they got caught out and then being made to wait to get it back see here >> http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?462143-DVLA-Medical-Issues!

It's difficult to have sympathy for people like that. I remember my dad saying he'd undergone tests on his heart and brain and they found nothing abnormal. But DVLA still have guidelines to follow and regardless of how he was feeling, they couldn't give him back his licence. I seem to remember 6 months later, he said he was going to ask for his licence back because he was feeling fine. A few weeks later, he had an episode at home. They discovered it was indeed his brain and had to (as per their guidelines) ban him for longer.

Although that post affected me due to personal circumstances I got my knuckles rapped by BF. Looking back on it I could have used a different word to 'glad' I should have used 'sorry' instead. It may have changed the body of the post completely.

This is the side effect of a serious brain injury. This is my fault. Try as hard I can it's difficult for me.

The reason for this was I had been kept waiting in booth 6 in A&E FOR 90 mins because of something similar.

During this time I was still bleeding in my brain with every heart beat. In the end I had in excess of 3 lt of CSF drained from within the cranial cavity.

This is not known to many outside my circle of support but now it is. I do feel sorry in a way for the OP..

Unforseen circumstances have cost them dearly. This equipment is life saving and life changing. It shouldn't be wasted on an excuse for a day off of work.

Suffice to say having been reprimanded by the site team I now understand one has to be a bit more compassionate. This is very hard on our position.

I hope the site team will in time understand that I am one of about 5,000 people in the UK with my specific injury.

For 6 years now I have worked so hard to live a normal life and be helpful to my fellow humans.

How many people do you know that actually stand in the middle of a main road to light a smoke forgetting totally where they are? Sad to say I'm one of them.

I struggle with words and numbers. I am told I am clinical and without compassion or feelings. This is true. This is a side effect of my injury. I cannot get the normal feelings back because it is beyond repair. That's tuff on me.

N I am happy you understand what I am about thanks for that. That's 2 people in my corner... sorry for the longer reply..

People who don't use their brains. Which now means I'm without a much needed aid, I now need another appointment to see someone on the NHS and I spent 3 hours travelling to the hospital and back just to be told there's nothing they can do and I need to see someone. Oh hold on - they offered me the same bloody aid.

Nothing like being insulted by my upstairs neighbour. I'm physically disabled and have a learning disability. Apparently, I should be living in supported housing. She's also told me she doesn't care that I need to sleep during the day and will allow her grandchildren to make as much noise as they want. Will be interesting to see what the landlord says.

So, I went to see my GP on Tuesday because I suspect (I've had it before) my medication is giving me insomnia. The subject of my hearing came up. She prints out a letter sent to her from ENT. It turns out I now have permanent hearing loss in one ear due to the medication I'm on. :( Because it's something to do with the hairs, the damage is permanent.

getting stopped by the police due to a sidelight bulb being out! They said the glass ( not glass but plastic) is not safe, told them a lorry had threw some rubbish off and it hit the headlight causing the damage but oh no I now have to fix it asap, take the car back to them once done and prove it as the car now has a " mark" on it, meaning could be stopped again :/

Was also told could be prosecuted! shortly before this there were 2 other cars with no brake /back lights and one car with no lights on at all until it saw the Police car, the first car actually called for a ANPR car to come and check my car over!

Now searching for somewhere to get it fixed, and it is a big light as is on a KIA CARENS drivers side

So, the train was packed this morning. Despite many people standing in the doorways, a lot of people still decided that their bags needed a seat.

People who have no concept of what a quiet carriage is. I prefer sitting in there because I need the quiet. Instead, I had to put up with someone's screaming child. Just what I need when I've got migraine. :(

Have a look on eBay - the full units are on there for less than £50.00 and they're normally pretty easy to swap out.

Help, just got a letter from tax credits saying I owe nearly £3k how the hell am I supposed to pay that ?

It has me down as I get over £8k year, I wish I did, I have filled in all the forms and did it right, but they have sent my back a letter stating completely different amounts!

I wrote to them last week as well, the letter that came today is dated 9/6/16!
