My brother is getting married abroad and he wants me to be there. It will mean missing my signing on day and being out of the country for 3 working days and also the weekend. He is paying for the trip. I am currently receiving JSA so will this be allowed? I assume I will loose a portion of my money but will they cancel the claim?

Thanks.

For a trip abroad you would have to close your claim and then do a rapid reclaim on your return, so you would lose out on the money for the time spent abroad. You cannot sign on and go abroad as you would not be available for and actively seeking work. If it was in the UK you would be OK going away for up to 2 weeks provided you notified JSA via the ES674 form and still be available for work.

The advice I give in relation to benefits should be viewed as general advice and not specific to your individual claim circumstances. I cannot give specific advice on your claim as I cannot access the claim.
