Hello folks,

I must say this is an excellent forum and the standard of advice is particularly high it seems! This being the reason I decided to register and ask for some advice...

I am currently insured with Direct Line, I have 7 years no claims bonus and it is protected.

About a year ago driving my car at around 5 miles an hour through a very tight space in a lane near my friends house. On one of the bends of the lane there was a 2 and half foot high stone bollard. Unfortunately I managed to scrape the off side sill between the front and rear wheels. The damage is purely cosmetic and has no effect on the road worthiness of the vehicle.

Now this is where it gets tricky!

My job means that I am out of the country nearly every second week... So I left the car as it is and did not report it to my insurance company. I was planning on getting it fixed myself and I am currently awaiting a quote from a local bodyshop.

The main problem is that this happened more than a year ago.

If I were to call my insurance company and try to claim for the repairs what are the likely responses I would get?

I would appreciate any advice!

Cheers,

JSW1

Go forth and multiply, I would expect.

Plus cancellation of this year's insurance as you did not inform them of the accident, either at the time or at renewal.
