Theres a few such as Crown Litigation Services whos names are clearly designed to mislead the consumer, then of course theres the DCA's who issue paperwork designed to look very similar to official court documents...

Getting people like trading standards to do something seems a monumental task.

What if, people started recreating/photocopying and so on samples of these misleading documents and letterheadings, and sent them to various MP's (with the MP's name as the debtor)

Maybe when the powers that be realise how misleading and nasty those letters can be, then something will be done about the pondlife. I would imagine it will be enough to even fool some MP's into making a phonecall to the DCA's see what the hell they are up to!

Depends on whether or not you have a death wish!:|

Apart from the simple fact that you would be arrested, charged with fraud, at the very least, and quite possibly a breach of the peace, intimidation, etc I would imagine that any MP opening said letters fabricated by you to fool them into ringing a DCA will defitnitely land you in court, no matter how innocent you intended them to be...;)

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

Simpler than you might think, with the right people and technology.

The name you give is a historic one for Wescot and the OFT may not have allowed it's use. You submit a trading name and it is strictly vetted by the OFT for use and even if they don't allow it will still show on the register for a CCL as historic. If they use a name or letters that make false representations or are intended to create that impression then it's a criminal act. It's fairly strict and a trader can't even use the name U.K. after their name if they don't have branches outside of it as it could be seen that they have and create a false impression.

As part of the licencing process the company has to provide copies of any stationary they intend to use which are again vetted. If they deviate from this and imply it is an official document, it's again a criminal offence.
