Please help me. I rented a property through a private landlord (using an AST). We were shown the property by an agent. However after signing the lease, this agent told us that they did not manage the property and any queries or communication was to go directly to the landlord.

I gave notice to vacate to my landlord over a month ago (which he clearly received as shortly afterwards I was getting numerous calls from agents wanting to do viewings of the property). Despite my many attempted calls and emails to him however, the landlord has not contacted me since the giving of notice to discuss handover of keys or final inspection.

Now I have a call from the original agent saying that the landlord has contacted it and wants this agent to do a final inspection and handover of keys. I told them I want to the landlord to contact me to confirm this arrangement but still have heard nothing. My lease is now over, the property vacated and cleaned but I still hold the keys (and the landlord has my security deposit). What should I do??

the tenancy has not ended if you still have the keys! and would be liable for additional rent! Have you requested the deposit back, write to LL and agent for it. Was the deposit protected?
