They will take her income into account if you tell them what her income is.

DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR PARTNER.

You do not have to tell them anything about her. Even if they threaten you DO NOT LISTEN

My opinions are my own and not those of anyone else :D

  • 1 month later...

The previous poster is absolutely right. I'm having to pay £126 a month for a child I have not seen for three years and she lives with her dad!! I was told by the CSA (who I have to say were ecxtremely understanding of the situation) that the only way your ex can get more money out of you is if she informs them that you're doing extra hours. Just pay what you have to pay and keep quiet!!

PS I am doing extra hours at the weekend as well as working full time to make ends meet and no, I didn't tell them. Ex lives in Scotland so there's not much chance of him running into me!!

Good luck

It actually depends if you are on the 'new system' or 'old system'. On the old system, partner income can be taken into account. Under the new system, no partner income is taken into account whatsoever. The new system is based soley on income and the number of children you are paying for. If you're not sure which system you are on, you should be able to check on their website, or by looking at your reference number. 10 digit number for old system and 12 digit number for new system.

Personally i think the whole of the CSA is a total crock of sh*t.

Its not a fair system AT ALL.

I'm seriously considering my options at the moment as the csa are stinging me for £300 per month for 1 child. They dont care that i have a mortgage to pay as well as council tax arrears.

Also he a really really bad tax code (-36) due to the lovely people at HMRC not being able to keep track of my self assessment forms from over 3 years ago.

If anyone has any ideas about what possible steps i could take then feel free to pm me.

My opinions are my own and not those of anyone else :D

just to add, if she is in reciept of child tax credits, they will take this into consideration as income into the household. and as this is income they will take part of her tax credits to give to your children - so in effect they take from one child to give to another, nice system eh

OMG that is shocking!!!!!!

How on earth can they believe that the system is fair when they're happy to take the food from one childs mouth to give to another thats already getting enough money from the absent parent

My opinions are my own and not those of anyone else :D
