Hi folks, I hope you are all doing well :)

Anyway, my question:

Akitv keep ringing me up at work asking for my wife (we both work for the same company).

I keep telling them that she is off on sick leave (which she is!) and wont be back for a while.

Yet, they must ring at least 4 or 5 times during the day.

I have now told them to stop calling at work as 1) We wont take personal calls at work, 2) They are annoying not only me but my work collegues and 3) They just dont seem to understand when I say my wife is OFF SICK!!

I havent let on Im her husband but just a work collegue who has taken over whilst she if off but they DONT GET THE MESSAGE!! :-?:-?

Any advice would be hugely appreciated to get these idiots off my phone!

Problem with these clowns is that the calls are generated by an automated call system, the fool at the other end is not directly phoning you it's the system so when you pick it up it alerts an operator in the centre and they then begin to speak to you, I'm afraid they were not asked to have brains when they were interviewed for their pointless job so when you tell them not to phone again they don't have the intelligence to be able to update the system, that has to be carried out by a more senior person, and so the cycle will continue through the system with the constant mundane phone calls.

Write to their complaints department and also report them to OFT for harrasment, they should not be contacting your wife at work anyway.

Give them an alternative number when they call (not your home number, obviously). Maybe their MD's number?

send the morons this

Harassment by telephone

Account Number: XXXXXXX

I am writing in relation to the quantity and frequency of telephone calls that I have received from your company, which I deem to be personally harassing.

I have verbally requested that these stop, but I am still receiving calls. (Delete if necessary)

I now require all further correspondence from your company to be made in writing only.

I am of the view that your continued harassment of me by telephone puts you in breach of Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970, and the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.

If you continue to harass me by telephone, you will also be in breach of the Communications Act (2003) s.127 and I will report you to OFCOM, Trading Standards and The Office of Fair Trading, meaning that you will be liable to a substantial fine.

Be advised that any further telephone calls from your company will be recorded. (**Even if you don‘t yet have recording equipment!!**)

Yours faithfully,

Make a complaint to your local trading standards & the OFT with regards to their harassment, they are in clear breach of OFT guidelines & CPUT ;

Report them to the OFT for breaching OFT guidlines and the CPUTR. They're already under scrutiny of the OFT ;)

Hi all

Many thanks for the replies. A letter has now been typed up (not signed ;)) and ready to post.

I was thinking of telling them that she has since been made redundant or has left and no longer works for the company. That may at least give them something to do in respect of trying to hunt her down at any new premises

My other tactic of late has been to answer the phone and when they say who is calling (yep, they even tell me its Aktiv !!), I tell them I will go and look for her - which I dont as she isnt in work - and then I leave the phone off the hook. They seem to realise at some point that no-one is coming to the phone and hang up eventually..

Basically, a short sharp letter from your wife advising that it's agaonst OFT guidlines to contact her at her place of work should do the trick. Add a line that you know they're under OFT sanctions ;)

They have rang TWICE again this morning so on the second attempt my mate answered the phone and told some woman to hold whilst he attempted to find out what the status is with my wife etc.. Of course he already knew but it kept Aktiv on the line for a few minutes which I presume was at their costs! In the end they hung up.

Hopefully they will soon get the message that no matter what, they will never get through to my wife at work.

Tell them you don't know the person in question, tell them you will find out where they work, put them on hold, then every couple of minutes ask if they are ok to hold as you can't locate the person but will keep trying, keep doing this until they go away, hopefully they will stay on for a long time at cost to them, welcome to the world of 'how to annoy the DCA as much as possible' it's a fun game! :D

pretend your the boss and that he has recieved a complaint from his staff that a company keeps disturbing his staff over personal matters and that their constant phone calls are stopping legitamate business users getting through and that further calls will result in an invoce for lost business being sent to aktivekrapital

Just had a call from a snotty cow asking for Mrs Dunn. I asked her who was calling and she gave a name of Natasha and its a personal call.

I told her I was her manager and that we do not accept personal calls. She then asked for Mrs Dunns HOME phone number and I told her we do not give that information out.

This is when she then went off on one saying `IF you are her manager then you would be able to help` blah blah blah.

I got shirty with her and told her I knew exactly who she was calling from and that her call and her company where now breaking the law with contacting Mrs Dunn at her place of work and I was going to now report them.

She started getting ****ty with me so I simply said `goodbye` and put the phone down... lol

You could have some fun with them; next time they call just say something like; "she is with her leader Mr Montague-Smythe at XXX Crown Court, I'll just check with Chambers so see if they have left/returned yet". :D
