Hi

We ordered a car bumper from spare parts.net on the internet it promised next day delivery this has been 3 weeks ago now the money was taken from bank the same day and the bumper has not arrived. You are not able to get through to them on the phone, they do not respond to emails. We put the adress in google maps and the it just gives a ordinary terraced house and is supposed to be a company called all car parts.

Dont realy know where to go from here this company could be ripping lots off people off. Can anyone help ?

The email we got from them comfirming the order has a tracking system but all it says in in progress :(

Give Trading Standards a call see if they have heard anything about them.

Hopefully it maybe that it is a genuine company (one man band operating from home) they might still be waiting for your goods to arrive in stock to them.

I would definatly ring Trading Standards though then let us know what they say.

It is not illegal to operate a company from a private address. How was the money 'taken' from your bank? Lousy customer service is experienced by many customers - if specially ordered it may take a while to arrive, but I agree, it is worse when they keep you in the dark.

Money was taken by debit account unfortunatly but the site claims guarenteed next day delivery.

I agree with you on the running buissness from private address but I would imagine they would need to be a breakers yard

We did just find another phone number but ya u got it................. " there is fault "

I'm no fan of Trading Standards, they're only good at soothing noises. Call your bank. Say that the debit card entrty for the seller should be reversed. You are covered under the Distance Selling Regulations, and as you cannot raise any response, a reversal from their merchant card account should be a formality.

We did call the bank they say nothing they can do.

Our transaction was a relitively small one but as well all know there are car parts that cost maga bucks if this is a bogus company I dont want other peeps to be ripped off and is looking so much more like it is beleive me we exploreing all avenues

What's the name of the company? If your debit card provider won't refund the money, then you can sue the company for a full refund on the basis of breach of contract.

It was a Halifax debit card.

The company is all car parts but we think is a bogus company :(

Halifax VISA/VISA Electron or Mastercard/Maestro debit card?

For VISA/VISA Electron debit cards a chargeback can be done.

"all car parts" is a very generic name, a search for that (within "") in Google comes up with 866,071 results! Please can you be more specific?

It would be ideal if you could go to their website and see if they have an address, and limited company name.

What did it say on your bank statement for the payment?

Allegations of a bogus company shouldn't be made without clear evidence. They could end you in the Defendant's seat of a defamation case! There are numerous companies that aren't the most honest and may not send out parts, but they aren't "bogus", just dishonest.

The site we ordered from was spare finder

Money was taken out off the bank by ACP

The address keeps disapearing off there web site but we did manage to note it as a Bishop Auckland address

There is another address in the terms and conditions which is a Hartlepool addresss although the phone numbers are the same and always the same thing cant get through.

I actually think I give up on this one but hate to think people getting the same thing and have spent far more money.

You haven't answered my question about what type of Halifax debit card you used (VISA/VISA Electron or Mastercard/Maestro).

As we've being trying to get out of you - a VISA DEBIT card comes with the VISA guarantee, something that the Halifax knows full well but always manages to 'forget'. DEMAND a chargeback, if you are fobbed off ask for a superior. It is VISA that provides this guarantee NOT Halifax, but you need to tell them your are requesting a chargeback under your DSR rights.

As buzby says VISA & VISA Electron debit cards have a chargeback facility which the provider must provide. If you have no luck on the telephone with Halifax - which I have heard on this issue before, unfortunately - then prepare a letter of complaint and post a draft here - without personal information [putting xxxxx instead of anything personal] - and I'll happily try to proof it for you.

The chargeback is not actually requested under the DSR rights though, it's requested under contractual obligations, as the product hasn't been received and it's a contractual obligation of the card provider [where the card is a VISA/VISA Electron debit card] to offer the chargeback facility.

As with regards to the merchant. They have two telephone numbers, neither of which work. The WHOIS search gives a Hartlepool address.

Do NOT give up on this till you have really tried. To me it seems that you haven't exhausted all options yet.

What was the exact name on your bank statement? Anything to identify it, besides for codes?

Who would potentially lose a lot more? The people who have taken your money and sent you nothing? Why would you not want them to lose a lot more?

Please let us know how it goes with Halifax on the phone. If they refuse or give any trouble, then come back here and post a draft of a letter - without any confidential info - and I'll try to proof it for you.

What do you mean by "and I am not think"???

PS thanks for help

No problem.

The OP said it was sparefinder.net, which makes more sense as this is the WHOIS record for sparefinder.net;

Yes that is the site

Are you sure SPAREPARTS.NET is the website? I was led to believe

from your earlier post that it was SPAREFINDER.NET. So which one

will it be?

sawda: Don't take it so personally. There is a very good group spirit here and we always laugh at one another when things are said that don't make sense! Nobody had any intention to insult you!

What you wrote "and I am not think" doesn't make sense, so was a bit humorous, look at the funny side!

Please keep us posted and if Halifax give you a hard time, come back here and will be happy to help.

Best of Luck!

I agree with legalpickle - yes I made a joke but no harm intended (hence the bit in brackets and the smiley face).

With the stressful situations debt brings a giggle or two along the way is a great help.

All banks try and act dumb when you ask them to do things like this. They seem to think that doing work to help the customer is a bad thing.

If I owned them things would be.....................

Oh hang on :D
