    • Well, you've highlighted the problem yourself, whatever you decide will carry some risk.   However, I would think the risk of a default judgement & CCJ is to be avoided at all costs and the least worse thing would be to write them a two-line letter with their reference number and your new address.   As usual, any details you can give us on the forum sticky would be useful for the future

      I was in Sainsbury’s today and did scan and shop.
      I arrived in after a busy day at work and immediately got distracted by the clothes.
       
      I put a few things in my trolley and then did a shop.
      I paid and was about to get into my car when the security guard stopped me and asked me to come back in.
       
      I did and they took me upstairs.
      I was mortified and said I forgot to scan the clothes and a conditioner, 5 items.
      I know its unacceptable but I was distracted and Initially hadn’t really planned to use scan and shop.
       
      No excuse.
      I offered to pay for the goods but the manager said it was too late.
      He looked at the CCTV and because I didn’t try to scan the items he was phoning the police.
       
      The cost of the items was about £40.
      I was crying at this point and told them I was a nurse, just coming from work and I could get struck off.
       
      They rang the police anyway and they came and issued me with a community resolution notice, which goes off my record in a year.
      I feel terrible. I have to declare this to my employer and NMC.
       
      They kept me in a room on my own with 4 staff and have banned me from all stores.
      The police said if I didn’t do the community order I would go to court and they would refer me to the PPS.
       
      I’m so stressed,
      can u appeal this or should I just accept it?

Hi, Just wanted a bit of advice.

 

Back on 18th March my other half received a letter from work stating

 

"I am writing to invite you to an investigation metting to be held by xxxxx at xxxxxx on 25th March 2009

 

The meeting will be to investigate the removal of asbestos from xxxxxx and failure to carry out management instructons. Following the fullness of investigation it will be established as to what managerial action should be taken against you; if any. It is important that I bring your attention that the outcome of the investigation may lead to disciplinary action being initiated against you"

 

Other half had the meeting and gave his side of the situation. Since then he's heard nothing. Is there a set time they have to get back to him by or is this something they can leave hanging over him indefinately?

 

On a seperate issue, his company do annual pay reviews every 1st July - both a company wide % and an individual performance payrise. But his area office have received no pay review letters. Its in his contract that pay is reviewed at that time. Can they just decide not to do it without informing them>

Will try to find some info for you ,just found this,

The ACAS Code of Practice on disciplinary action states that the process must be gone through without delay, although no time limit is given.Does seem a long time.

As for the other matter the annual pay review.Just found this-

Ideally all employees and management should be regularly updated on progress and timescales, especially when the company operates a performance pay system. In this situation there will be deadlines for various work packages that employees are involved in e.g. input of performance ratings, issue of recommended salaries from salary planning matrix, input of salary increases and new salaries to the HR system and issue of letters to all employees.Sounds like a communication problem.I hope.Think i would get in touch with HR dept.And ask on progress.Suppose many are wondering.Good luck Tawnyowl.

He will get on to HR re pay review tomorrow. And he wont chase up the investigation result just let them drag it out I guess........
