    • @Jaybee in CF Claimant commitments are agreed between yourself and the Job Centre Work Coach.  So you will be able to discuss the local jobs market, transport available and all of the local issues.   As it is a two way constructive relationship, you can research all of the relevant information, so when you have your claimant commitment agreed,  the information you have obtained can be considered.
    • look up on land registry who owns the property then get in contact with your local environmental heath dept.   dx
    • Hello all,   I have recently moved into a new property. The bedroom window is facing a bunch of commercial crates which have trash on top of them. The trash is maybe two metres away from the window, making it impossible for the window to be open (I am also afraid of rats being there).   The other windows of the property are facing a communal, enclosed area, which is making it difficult for the property to be properly ventilated. I have already raised this issue with my estate agency and they are trying do to something about it (to be honest, if I leave everything to them, this issue won't be solved until my tenancy is finished, and that is more than one year away).   I am asking for advice, or how could I approach this issue.   I have spoken to my council and, since they do not deal in private property, there is nothing they can do, at least this is what they have told me.   The property with the trash is not owned by my landlord. It is an open space, with big crates, closed off by a fence. If I could, I would climb those crates and remove the trash myself but I cannot. I also cannot climb out the window to reach the trash, as the window is too small.   At times, I see a car in that property but I have never seen the driver. I left a note in the car's window explaining the issue and giving my number. This was around a week ago and nobody came back to me.
    • Hi   First off ALL Tenants need to re report all the different repairs again via their repairs procedure. Yes its good to get a list of all properties repairs with photo/video evidence signed by all property tenants but you all need to fight this individually as well as a group.   Next you all need to look up your rights on Repair i.e. The Right to Repair Scheme and also their Complaints Procedure.   http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1994/133/made   https://england.shelter.org.uk/housing_advice/repairs/right_to_repair_for_council_tenants   All Tenants need to take control back with these repair and ask in writing titling any letter 'FORMAL COMPLAINT' and stating the repair and why it hasn't been carried out to date and an exact date when it will be completed.   You also require clarification whether these Repairs come under the Right to Repair Scheme and if so why we were never informed of this. (delete or amend)   You also require copies of the following:   Right to Repair Scheme Policy (Not the Leaflet Repair and Maintenance Policy (Not the Leaflet) Solar Panel Policy (Not the Leaflet) Complaints Policy (Not the Leaflet) Equality & Diversity Policy (Not the Leaflet) When you get the above policies you need to take your time reading them and just think to yourself 'DID THEY DO THAT' in relation to your issue and if not mark it this way you build a list of what they haven't done/followed as per there own Policies and use it against them.   They will have time limits to complete repairs within for Emergency, Urgent, Routine repairs and if they exceed that time limit and need to extend it remember it is with you the tenants agreement not them telling you and tough you can wait.   (bear in mind any repairs during COVID-19 the time limits are now different and most routine repairs are stopped)
    • I was on UC in late March, and recently received some quite non-committal message that the commitments would be returning, but no indication when.     If I remember correctly the expectation was that we could find at least one job per day to which to apply, or some such nonsense.   Given that the government can only guess how many workplaces will be safe :  1) to commute to/from at the time of job application; 2) to work in at the time of job application;    3) to commute to/from at the date of starting a job ; 4) to work in at the date of starting a job,  5) to commute to/from at the date permanent WFH is dropped; 6) to work in at the date permanent WFH is dropped,    and given that we have lost 20% of our economy, I fail to see how they can both reasonably and immediately mandate any minimum figure of jobs we must apply for whilst this virus just killed over 135 people in the UK (stats released today).  That is only down from 155 last week, and about 175 a fortnight back.   At this rate it will be another 7 weeks MINIMUM before the mortality rate is zero - if it ever reaches zero before the inevitable second wave.

    • Hi,
I was in Sainsbury’s today and did scan and shop.
I arrived in after a busy day at work and immediately got distracted by the clothes.

I put a few things in my trolley and then did a shop.
I paid and was about to get into my car when the security guard stopped me and asked me to come back in.

I did and they took me upstairs.
I was mortified and said I forgot to scan the clothes and a conditioner, 5 items.
I know its unacceptable but I was distracted and Initially hadn’t really planned to use scan and shop.

      No excuse.
I offered to pay for the goods but the manager said it was too late.
He looked at the CCTV and because I didn’t try to scan the items he was phoning the police.

The cost of the items was about £40.
I was crying at this point and told them I was a nurse, just coming from work and I could get struck off.

They rang the police anyway and they came and issued me with a community resolution notice, which goes off my record in a year.
I feel terrible. I have to declare this to my employer and NMC.

They kept me in a room on my own with 4 staff and have banned me from all stores.
The police said if I didn’t do the community order I would go to court and they would refer me to the PPS.

      I’m so stressed,
can u appeal this or should I just accept it?

      Thanks for reading

I am at the moment on income support and dla. I have been scheduled a work focused interview which I hope to change to a week later as my son is away and I need to organise someone to go with me.

I understand what these interviews are for and have calmed down about that.

What confuses me is that last time he put it on hold, was being seen by hospital for mental health, he said he wanted me to sign some forms. I assume from what Ive learnt on here and a letter I received months ago that this is related to esa.

So firstly I am freaking out as usual as the paranoia is kicking up for the medical. I have trouble going through the front door let alone the prospect of going to another town.

I wonder would they do it at my home, I would be calmer.

The other question is that I trust the welfare rights lady but cant trust anyone else. Now I know this is probably my mental health kicking in, but I cant help it.

I wonder would I be able to ask welfare rights to attend the work focussed interview etc with me, I havnt had the courage to ask them yet.

I am honestly trying to calm down, I know most of it is me, but hey, thats me, Ive been like it for years and about to try counselling again if I can get to the doctors.

I have to calm down, stress is enough to make my epilepsy worse.

I know whats wrong with me I have to see my doctor to be refered to asti for counselling and am now on medication for it, but its obviously not working.

It just feels everythings happening at once and becomming too much

I`ve just had my first `pathways to work` interview with a private company employed by DWP. My daughter took me down and it was a one to one with fortunatly a very nice lady. I have both physical and some depression problems.I`m sure you could take the welfare person with you although I did ask for a home visit but couldn`t get one. Be clear to them how you feel.

They will ask about what work you feel you may be able to do but it is not wrong to say that you cannot do any. They talk about support groups which is a good idea. Try and stay calm. They will ask you to sign a form confirming what you`ve discussed and should send you a copy. Good luck.

Thanks. A while ago the doctors wanted me to go into a counselling group where I presume similar people with similar problems, it became obvious I couldnt cope with this and needed one to one help for longer. Last time at the hospital they said I had brightened up and seemed even bubly and the medication must therefore be working.

I was happy to have made it to my appointment and although he was nice, it felt false.

The next day I am very depressed. I just dont understand how I can be bubbly on minute and lower than low the next. I know my epilepsy can kick it off.

At the moment I am not managing the house even very well and have to hide that for fear of social services comming in. My kids are fine and I cook, just not the house proud full of energy person I dreamt I would be one day. The decoration has gone downhill and I need to sort it, we dont have any carpets after 9 years, but you can do without carpets.

Thanks for the advice. I shouldnt be ashamed of just telling them how it is. My appoinment is mid august and I hope they can put it off to first week of september as my son will be home. He is away with Young carers on holiday abroad on date of interview.

The welfare rights lady wont mind you asking if she can come, wether or not she can come I dont know, I do not know if it is something they would do, or if it is, maybe she may be unavailable at the time. But she should not mind you asking in any way, they are there for you to ask questions :)

Certainly worth asking welfare rights if it would be possible for a home interview, I know they can do them for medicals (if you can prove you need one, docs letters etc) but have no idea if its possible for these interviews, no harm in asking though..

I will phone them next week and try to ring mind for local help. Dont get me wrong by the way, I am a good parent, just feel I need to hide from the world at the moment.

Will go to doctors next week, he is lovely and listens.

Whilst it may be better for your condition to have a home visit and although it will be very hard on you it may be better that they see what state you get in if out. As for Social Services you sound like you do need some help. Have you been assessed by them for domiciliary care, meals etc. My wife and I are both disabled and get direct payments to employ our own carers although we use an agency and pay them.

I get dla for care and mobility. Welfare rights a while ago said I should have been on someting else and helped me fill the form in, it was lost and they helped me do it again as dwp lost it. I never heared anything and then started to get payments from csa which confused me as I didnt have them before. Told by dwp the money is mine and 'to go and enjoy', must have come accross odd to them as rang three times with same question, because thought it odd all of a sudden this money is mine. Told it is. Anyhow never heared about form to dwp and gave up as getting lextra money thought it must be linked. Anyhow I cook ok and when ill son takes over, better cook than me, I lately need to use online deliveries more he pops to icelands and gets it delivered.

My kids and well grounded and understand, I dont hang on them. My son was dealing with my epilepsy before he could speak and we are still together.

Just because the dwp confuse me, I get anxious. I recoreded the last call to them, just to confirm the money was mine, because I was getting this I didnt chase up the other as I have enough to get by on.

Could be I am getting the right ammount and they just needed the form I think.

I dont know if its part of my illness but I cant deal with things that change all of a sudden. Its hard to compute. My son describes me as human brain freeze, like when you drink a cold drink too fast:)

I'll tell you who have been a great help, Young carers.

The kiddies these last two years have been took on holiday, go to day groups and they organise fun for them in the summer holidays.

Before this they never went out, because I didnt, their day out was to the supermarket.

So as much as I am a misery at the moment, they are great. Myson has been offered a place to egypt this month august and is so looking forward to it. They are going to talk to me nearer the time to organise someone to visit and try to help me go out I suspect. But I know they are helping, just it doesnt overlap with appointment.

As to going out shows me as I am, your right. I cant leave my hands alone and have severe eczma on them as I wash and rub them so often. You cant miss it its disgusting.

Anyhow just typing for a while alone, has lightened my mood, thanks. I'll stop being so miserable:D

Very brave to think having a mental illness is having a break, I wish I could.

Ofcouse it would have helped had the police protected a young child years ago rather than leave her with her perverted father.

So sorry he screwed my brain up as well.

Bit hard to get over the fact he was a serving police officer on the child protection squad and of course 'wouldnt do that'

He also wouldnt have tried to suffocate me which I suspect caused my epilepsy as well, I was only a kid. I HATE MYSELF, and just to think I was chearing up, g*t.

Easy life hey.

I understand some people can get over things better than me, I just have a seizure and then end up going through the whole thing again.

Maybe youd like to swap places citezen, I would.

and on a more controlled note, thats my point. People who dont understand mental illness, just see us as a scrounger. Probably one of the reasons I prefer to stay safe at home. Like I went to the city last week and two drunks, who were followed by securtity, decided to taget me for the fact I appeared different I presume. They hit me on the head and took the pee out of my hair do. They were escorted away. But all I was doing was picking up my sons glasses, like a normal person and couldnt do that successfully.

Last time in the market, I was targetted by a man who thought it funny to jump behind me and scream in my earoles.

I just want to be left alone, nowt special, my hair is just up in a pony tail, nowt odd, I am overweight but not hughely, so why target me. To me it feels personal and a huge threat and if no one can understand that, well I am sorry.

Stardust my love, ignore the comments. They are not important. It's ignorance of the highest degree. You ARE entitled to an at home medical.

Send them a letter explaining how your anxiety levels are at the moment, how they contribute to the fear of open social situations and that you feel you would manage the medical better if you were at ease in your own home.

Your welfare rights officer or your CPN can be there with you, to support you whilst the assessment is carried out.

Your lack of trust in others is nothing to feel bad about. You cannot help nor change the way you feel or how your illness affects you. Concentrate less on what you feel is "expected" of you and more on what is right for you.

Incredible isn`t it,because you can use a computer you can do a full time job!! Just concentrate on looking after yourself and your family and take each day as it comes. Try and remember small victories or positives in the day, smile from kids or happiness that your son is getting away.

I thought if you had epilepsy you qualified for ESA on the support level. Perhaps Erika PNP can help. Take care.

Thanks Erika, funny thing is I havnt even got that far to be given date for possible medical yet. I am just getting worked up way in advance as usual. Will ask dwp to visit me at home and see what they say. Last time I did that they confimred it with mental health and put it on hold. Just this time I know it needs to happen due to the esa change, so will do my best xx.

Thanks eyeballs. Yes I have to fill in new forms and will get it done, just hope they either remake appointment for sept or come to house, at least I am giving them the option.

And to make things lighter, I have a problem answering the door to strangers, but we'll work on that:D I promise xx

And for citezen, computers and epilepsy dont mix for very long with what I have, sorry. But I choose to still surf on them. At least I am trying, hey:rolleyes:

Typing on at forum at your own leisure and pace is very different to typing in a full time job with set targets and timescales.

Illness affects people in many different ways. What one person can manage, another person cannot. Casting aspersions and generalisations dosn't work where each member of society functions differently.

You know what? I'm sick to death of comments like the above. When talking about someone's mental health, that,"some folk just need a good shake!!specially them quite clever folk." Ill informed and idiotic opinions like that can really hurt people with mental issues, who themselves can't handle the fact, or find it hard to accept, that they have mental problems.

citizenkain do you work for ATOS doing dwp medicals? If not maybe you would fit right in... Only joking, dont apply please!!! Some of their reports in my opinion show a strong indication that some of their examiners must be thinking like that also (either that or they are so incompetant they dont bother to check what lima produces, possible its both) , even come across reports of points being denied for depression because the client was to pessimistic about thier condition (isnt that just a symptom, not a reason to deny points....)

Many people have not got a clue about mental illness, its only really possible to understand something you have experienced. You can learn from watching, or listening, or reading, but it takes first hand to know first hand.

I have worked for ATOS before in a certain capacity,if someone shows up for a medical, smartly dressed, articulate etc then makes out there mentally ill and depressed it doesnt wash, depressed people by that nature are usually someone that doesnt look washed, clothes dirty and a bit disorientated, some folk DO just need a good shake!!The sad thing is there are plenty of real folk need help and arent getting it for the sake of these malingerers and unfortunately when anyone points it out you get the bleeding hearts coming out in droves!!

You didn't work on developing the lima software used at medicals did you??

Some one could be mentally ill and still be smart, not everyone who is mentally ill will dress like a tramp all the time, plus many people have partners that tidy them up, and or they make a huge effort for the medical.

Not all mental illness is going to stop you from being articulate, there are a lot of incredibly intelligent people with mental illness, depression etc. Plus, conditions can fluctuate over days or weeks, basing an opinion on a one of medical that lasts an hour or so at most, often a lot less is pretty dangerous, but its done.....

Right, citezen, you represented in the past the atos crowd.

Youve done me a favour it seems. I havnt even been able to get dressed for over a week since my last seizures, been too low to feel I want to.

So where for going out the occassional time I do and I actually get dressed and have a shower, which feels an effort to me, I look more presentable than usual. Been worried that social services would notice the state of me.

So instead of making a tiresome effort, I know, you must feel, oh, they cant be bothered to get dressed, need a good shake, as in your words, you have proved to me what all think at the dwp and I shall carry on considering them a threat to not understanding what I go through.

As for a good shake, after going through what I did as a child, I would appreciate you pointing that towards my father. You obviously dont understand psychology or neurology and have no incling of genuine need. You feel benefit claimants are figures as you were probably trained to have no compassion what soever.

As for the articulate and being able to type, it was droned into me as a child on a typing course. So if youll forgive me when sitting here in my house, will you only show sympathy if someone looks like a slob and drools mental health.

you are ignorant , youve done me a favour, youve made me angry and I'll turn up to that interview as me, rather than like most hiding mental illness, trying to be someone else for fear of people noticing.

As for insulting me in further comments, I'd rather you go suck an egg and not bother. Your like an accused, confidently insisting nothing happened, shes mad, all in her head, look at me the convincing one, shes lying. His word against mine, trouble is no one wanted to protect a minor and I shouldnt be responsible for the fact I am now ill. Iheld down a job for years untill attacked at work and it put me in a situation I had felt was familiar, it all came back and I couldnt cope with the seizures getting worse. Same attitude there, they'll all help untill you become a little of a hinderence and the word 'mental health' is mentioned.

Articulate, I hope so when I can be, that was my job. Maybe I should right a novel if I can learn how and tell the world, what my parents were. At least I am a good parent as best I can and I can be positive about that.

You go slither away, good shake, I had enough of them from my partner, didnt help, thanx:p

Started out a positive thread me just asking for advice on interview. I ended up having a suspected and admitted member of atos, giving me their personal views on my like. Thanks for making me feel more lower than low, hey that was a great help, to be proved right.

They dont give two hoots and want me to dissapear not claiming benefits for their figures, but probably dead in a bush. Saves money, hey.
