I have been chased by BCW for a number of years now regarding a £3500 debt I owe barclays - its my debt and i will repay it.

However a couple of things I am not clear on are 1) BCW tell me the debt is a Barclays debt but the client is Aktiv Kapital UK Limited. This brings me on to point number 2) Are barcalys allowed to hand over my personal details and information and are Aktiv Kapital then allowed to pass on my details to BCW?

Also I am looking to buy a house in the coming 18 months but i am worried about my credit rating and how damaging Aktiv or BCW can be.

Can anyone provide me with some advice on this.

Thanks

Need a little more info.

Was this a current account or credit card/loan, how old is it? does it still appear on your credit file?

Aktiv look like they have purchased the debt but you should have had a notice of assignment sent by Barclays advising this.

If its on your credit file, then Aktiv should now have the account in their name and a default also, you need to ensure that default is the correct default date.

And yes it will affect a mortgage application IF its still on your credit file, if its older than 6 years and no longer on your file then you should have no problem.
