    • Thanks for this update. Obviously I'm very pleased that your guitar has been delivered and that you don't have to take any further action about this. On the other hand, I'm slightly disappointed because I was hoping that this might be an opportunity to deliver a serious slap against Hermes. Anyway, who knows why it happened like this – but the most important thing is that the item has been delivered and you're not out of pocket – and also probably you have learned a good lesson – don't use Hermes – or Packlink. It's a recipe for trouble.

    • I have debts of my own and will sort another advice separate for them as now I’m not working and a full time carer for wife & daughter I’m struggling to pay them so will want advice on letters to send them for reduced payments etc But for now I need to know what to do about PayPal as its really making me worry and is making me ill but ive got to try be strong and put on brave face for wife & daughter I dont want them picking up on something is wrong & worrying me
    • Help & Advice wanted on PayPal debt please I had someone staying with me for a while before they moved away and they had access to my PayPal account and was buying a few things and giving me the money no problem but then unknown to me until it was to late they had a gambling problem also and last off used my PayPal to fund online gambling . They ended up using £5,000 through PayPal and the first I knew was when I went to do some online banking and seen £1200 went out of my bank for PayPal so I looked straightaway and stopped / cancelled my bank letting PayPal take from my account . Then I logged on to PayPal and seen transactions 1 after another this going to total the £5,000 so I unlinked my bank & cards from PayPal account . Then nearly 2 weeks after I started getting emails and messages saying my account was in negative balance for £3,800 because they already had the £1200 . I’m in a bit of debt anyway and struggling so for this to happen left me feeling very ill to find they have spent thousands and left me without anything no money to live on or feed family even at the time as that £1200 that was took out of my account was all I had, I’m very annoyed and feeling very mad and very ill. Ive no idea how I can put this right as got no work no money because My wife got struck down with illness and disabled and I also have special needs daughter so I’m now a full time carer for both wife and daughter . I need to sort this but dont know how or best way to go about it. Ive had emails from PayPal and ive replied and explained plus went on live chat etc and asked for it to be logged and for them to please come to some payment agreement even though I cant afford it I know I got to put things right somehow but had no joy in chat and was just told pay into PayPal what I owe. So again I get emails and I reply but not getting any reply back to my emails . Ive not told my ill disabled wife about this right now as it would push her over the top and make her more ill thinking about it and its her Nephew to top things off so I know it would destroy her . Ive tried talking to someone with PayPal in live chat etc and emails as said asked if it can be logged showing ive been in touch regarding this matter and need to try sort it and also asked for them to contact me in writing so hopefully we can come to some sort of agreement to put this right but so far its been about 31 days now since account been in negative and ive had no phone calls or letters from them yet So what can I do and whats best way to deal with this I’m trying to pursue the person for these funds as we speak but know I’m not going to get anywhere

    • Hi,
      I was in Sainsbury’s today and did scan and shop.
      I arrived in after a busy day at work and immediately got distracted by the clothes.

      I put a few things in my trolley and then did a shop.
      I paid and was about to get into my car when the security guard stopped me and asked me to come back in.

      I did and they took me upstairs.
      I was mortified and said I forgot to scan the clothes and a conditioner, 5 items.
      I know its unacceptable but I was distracted and Initially hadn’t really planned to use scan and shop.

      No excuse.
      I offered to pay for the goods but the manager said it was too late.
      He looked at the CCTV and because I didn’t try to scan the items he was phoning the police.

      The cost of the items was about £40.
      I was crying at this point and told them I was a nurse, just coming from work and I could get struck off.

      They rang the police anyway and they came and issued me with a community resolution notice, which goes off my record in a year.
      I feel terrible. I have to declare this to my employer and NMC.

      They kept me in a room on my own with 4 staff and have banned me from all stores.
      The police said if I didn’t do the community order I would go to court and they would refer me to the PPS.

      I’m so stressed,
      can u appeal this or should I just accept it?

      Thanks for reading

Thanks Scott, I like this forum. Yes they transferred the money on my account and also debited my account on due date so I did not have to do anything. One thing I don't understand is their 994% APR because in theory if I took 52 times their loan in one year, this would be 520% APR. Can someone explain?

Hi maya. Good to see some positive comments on payday loans. However a first time poster in these forums praising these firms leads to accusations of trolling.

I can't belive nice folk work for these companies.

You are right, they all pay me 1000 a pop to say nice things - In my dreams! I worked for a while in a call centre (Debt Collection Agency) and there are actually some quite nice people working there but managers/owners were horrible. They pay peanuts and make huge profits.

The apr is actually 14100%

if you borrow £100 for one week you pay back £110, (i.e. 10% a week),

if you were to re-borrow the £110 for another week (at 10% interest a week) you would pay back £121, after the 3rd week £133.10, 4th £146.41, 10th £259, 20th week £672 and at the 52nd week £14200 (thats £14100 interest - hence 14100% APR and £100 capital).

The APR charges interest on interest untill you reach a year, and with 10% a week that soon adds up.

Dear d716ag,

Unfortunately, calculating APR is a little less straightforward than the method you provided above. Our APR of 994% has been checked and approved by the Office of Fair Trading, which is obviously significantly less than the 14,100% you have suggested. If you want to gain a more accurate understanding of APR and how it is calculated, please refer to the Office of Fair Trading's guide on the subject, which can you find here:

http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/business_leaflets/consumer_credit/oft144.pdf

(Part II, page 9)

With regard to our repayment structure, it is true that interest continues to apply throughout, but that does not mean the outstanding balance will snowball until it reaches ridiculous levels (e.g. £14,100). Our repayment structure, less interest, is outlined below:

Day 8- we collect £110, however, if funds are not available;

Day 9- we send first overdue reminder including a £25 administrative and transaction fee, the loan totals £135;

Day 11- if the loan is not paid back in full, we send a second overdue reminder including a £25 administration and transaction fee, loan totals £160;

Day 16- if the loan is not paid back in full, we send a third reminder including a £20 administration and transaction fee, loan totals £180;

Day 23- if the loan is not paid back in full, we send a forth reminder including a £20 administration and transaction fee, loan totals £200;

Day 46- if the loan is not paid back in full, we refer the loan to our Collection Partner which incurs an additional £47 administrative charge and transaction fee.

The majority of our customers repay their loans on or before the 8th day.

Many regards,

Dear mightyroyals,

I am sorry to read about the problems you have faced whilst using our service. The majority of our customers receive an excellent service and we aim to ensure that our general standard of customer care only improves with time. Having said that, we are only human and dealing with potentially complex issues such as a stolen or lost credit/debit card can result in a departure from our normal standard of service. If this has been the case, please accept our apologies on the matter.

It is not possible for me to comment in any depth on your specific case because I do not possess the relevant details to access your account. It would also be inappropriate to discuss such private matters in a public arena. I will, however, make a note of your complaint and forward this on to management.

With regard to the more general aspects of your situation, I can advise that if an outstanding balance has been passed on to a collections agency, a fee would be charged at that point and not on the basis of a customer having been contacted by phone. I would also suggest that you keep a record of the time, date and name of the person you spoke to whenever discussing matters over the phone, as this will help to ensure that we can maintain a good standard of customer support.

As I mentioned above, I will forward your complaint on to management.

Many regards,

Dear Adam,

You are more than entitled to your opinion, but perhaps you fail to address an important component of your argument: TXTLoan does not exist because of the recession but as a result of the market requirement for more flexible lending. We provide fast and convenient loans that are designed to help our customers solve their short-term cashflow problems.

Also, it is inaccurate to describe TXTLoan as a 'bottom feeder' because we impose relatively strict credit checks on all those who apply to receive a loan from us. Furthermore, we recognise that there is an element of risk associated with short-term loan arrangements, so we aim to manage this risk for the customer by offering no more than £100 per loan. If paid on time, the cost of this loan is just £10.

Many regards,

You do exist because people with bad credit cannot get unsecured loans, credit cards etc anymore because of the credit crunch recession FACT therefore the only way to get credit is to resort to sub prime short term loan sharks such as yourselves FACT maybe you are one of the lesser evils, but payday loans/short term loans same thing really are the route to long term debt and depression.

I'm sure you will pass on my complaint but i know nothing will be done about it, I really should not have to take names and dates when i call to tell you my bank card has been stolen.

Also i am very tempted to follow this through now because surely to charge me 47 pounds for you passing this on to your collection partner you must send me a letter telling me that you are passing my details onto a third party and you are charging me the amount of 47 pounds.

Dear Adam,

Unfortunately, appending a comment with "FACT" does not necessarily make it so. TXTLoan exists to provide short-term loans to those who ought to be able to repay them within the agreed period of time. The credit crunch clearly reduced the availability of credit for a large number of people, whilst the recession has hardly helped matters. I can only reiterate that TXTLoan does not exist because of the recession but as a means to address a shortcoming or hole in the market - a gap that has been widened (but not created) by the recession.

Unflattering and misleading terms such as "bottom feeders" and "loan sharks" fail to disguise the fact that we provide credit to carefully selected individuals at reasonable rates within the prescribed time period. As a general guide, nobody should take out a loan of any description if they are unlikely to be able to repay it, which can be difficult to anticipate where longer term credit arrangements are concerned. However, with TXTLoan, many of our customers find themselves in a position to be able to calculate their finances efficiently and accurately because the repayment period is so short.

Furthermore, it is worth remembering that TXTLoan is not a provider of long-term credit, which invariably attracts a lower APR. Instead, we offer our customers the convenience of virtually instant loans that are subject to shorter borrowing periods.

Many regards,

TXTLoan Customer Relations

You can try and justify yourself all you like I think you should be outlawed loans such as these are more toxic than cigarette smoke, people only turn to you because money is tight at the moment and they are desperate this is a fact as I have had personal experience of pay day / short term loans so please don't attempt to patronise me or belittle me this is a fact and I know it 1st hand so please do not insult my intelligence any further, you are legal "loan sharks" you prey on the defenceless and weak its that simple and you feed off those who have hit rock bottom "bottom feeders" that is a fact mate and don't try to disguise this its an accurate description why would anyone who is not desperate turn to the likes of your company.

Explain to me how you can borrow £300 from your next months wages then pay £75 interest on top and be able to "calculate your finances" accurately, if you are already in trouble how can this possibly help? it makes things worse much worse as you have to reloan or extend or get another loan to make ends meet this is a fact like it or not.

SO when I use the word FACT it is through personal; experience and experience from 1000s of others who have fell into this trap

Any way I hope you enjoy your dinner tonite knowing that is paid for by others misery.

Dear andy07,

????? surely the customer relations should know if it is or isn't , and you talk about TXTLoans in the 3rd party???? is there a reason for this ?

Yes, the reason for writing in the third person on occasion is to distinguish between myself and TXTLoan policy, as I would not want to mislead you as to believe that I personally wrote the terms or uploaded them onto a website. As for my knowing where the terms in question are located, obviously these can be found on the TXTLoan website but as I do not have a copy of mightyroyal's loan agreement, I would not want to give the impression that I know specifically what is written on it.

Dear mightyroyals,

I do know though that if you assign the debt to your collection partner you HAVE to send me a letter of assignment or is it the case you have no such department and you just charge the amount of 47 pounds for passing it to the invisible collection partner.

Also please can you give me the address to write to so i can request a statement of all charges from yourselves please

As mentioned above, I cannot address specific aspects of your complaint, which means that I cannot advise as to whether any such letter was sent to you. Please contact TXTLoan Customer Support for further information.

You can write to us at:

Dear adamski,

Explain to me how you can borrow £300 from your next months wages then pay £75 interest on top and be able to "calculate your finances" accurately, if you are already in trouble how can this possibly help? it makes things worse much worse as you have to reloan or extend or get another loan to make ends meet this is a fact like it or not.

I cannot agree with your definition of facts as you refer to them, but certainly respect your opinion so I suggest we agree to disagree on the points raised and discussed.

In respect to the above quote, however, the sum of £300 plus £75 interest is an odd one, as TXTLoan customers would merely be required to find the £100 borrowed plus the £10 interest if the payment term is honoured. Short-term loans of this description are convenient for covering short-term cashflow problems and should not be seen as a solution to deeper financial issues.

Many regards,

TXTLoan Customer Relations
